Janalyn

Welcome to Brideology, where we'll be sharing our knowledge of the bridal industry. Sponsored by Princess Bridals, Long Island's oldest original family owned and operated bridal salon. I'm Janalyn.

Michelle

I'm Michelle.

Allie

I'm Allie.

Janalyn

And we're just going to be sharing some of our bridal tips and some stories we have from working in a bridal salon.

Allie

So we are going to start pretty broad with this. And then we're going to get a little bit more specific, which with each different segment or episodes, we'll like dove in a little bit deeper So we'll be sharing some fun tips, like things you wouldn't really think of, like how much does a wedding dress cost or how long does it take to get a wedding dress?

Allie

And some information about alterations.

Janalyn

And some sizing information.

Allie

Yeah, and just.

Janalyn

Everything you need to know we got you.

Michelle

And today we're just trying to delve in more into what will fit your body shape. What are you interested in? What type of dress are you looking for?

Janalyn

And we're just going to go over the different styles that dresses come in different shapes.

Michelle

So we could start first with our princess dress. We want to talk about the ball gown.

Janalyn

The big.

Michelle

Ball, the big girl. So usually these types of dresses, they are like layered with crinoline, which crinoline is this layer that seems kind of like crunchy. And it's it makes your dress a lot more fuller.

Allie

There's really like the layer of the dress. It's like closest to your body. You know, the part people don't see, but it's like giving the dress all of that volume to give you that big Cinderella look.

Michelle

So this dress, not everybody really likes of a lot of people think that it may flatter them better. So basically what happens is it's a lot tighter at the bodice. It's very like close to you. It claims things close to you. And then right up the waist, it flares.

Janalyn

Out.

Allie

To a big skirt. There's usually like a few layers of tool or satin, whatever. Terial the dress to me that, of course. And that crinoline skirt underneath.

Janalyn

Yes. And then after ball gowns, the next fullest. So the second fullest skirt type is going to be a line that, again, typically has a tighter bodice. And then around the waist, it will flare out into a full skirt. Again, it will have some crinoline in the skirt, but definitely less layers for that softer, flowy, skirt.

Allie

This is also a kind of shape where if you fall in love with a ball gown but don't want a skirt, that's as far as a ball gown, you can just cut that crinoline out and make it into an alien. Mm hmm.

Janalyn

And going the other way, if you find an airline dress that you really like, but you do want that fuller skirt, more layers of crinoline can be added to give you that extra volume.

Allie

And then A-lines also kind of range from a full A-line to that would be something that's just a little bit smaller than a ball gown to something really like light and flowy. That would just be like a layer or two of a chiffon skirt. Mm hmm. It's just super flowy but not tight to your body.....
