We then create cultures where people feel valued, bring their best selves to work and reach their potential.Do you want to practice functional leadership and learn how to balance and value feminine and masculine energies so that you can lead your team and your life with purpose? Then join Captivating Leadership with Rebecca Livesey as she explores bringing these energies into our life, leadership, and business, and sits down with leaders in their field to discuss how they use feminine energies in their business and life. • Episode 21: What history can teach us in Leadership
    Jan 21 2019
Have you ever been curious about diversity of thought in leadership and the patterns in our people? In today’s episode, I welcome Penny Ismay, History Professor at Boston College to discuss history in britain and how moving from an agricultural society to an industrial society over a couple of generations can be translated into the patterns of people in organisations today.
Intrigued and interested at how history and leadership are connected? Tune in to today’s episode!
    Penny and I discuss:
    • How feminine and masculine energy is used in a historical role and why empathy is so important
    • Why diversity in organisations is more than the balance of men and women, but more about diversity of thought
    • How to motivate people to do more, showing care and contributing to the greater good

Professor Ismay is interested in how the radical changes associated with modernity were made socially meaningful in Britain and around the world. Her current project examines the surprising ways in which Britains used friendly societies to navigate the new social landscape of rapidly growing urban centers in the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. She teaches courses on early modern and modern Britain and its empire, revolution and social trust in modern Europe; money and credit, and sociability and associational life.

    Jan 7 2019
Today we are joined by Nicole Van Hattem, Brisbane based, Holistic Success Coach for Women in Business. Together we discuss sustainability and success, why you need to view your people first and the importance of self care.
For over 20 years, Nicole has worked in corporate banking, finance and various other industries before embarking on a new path which led her to begin Nicolevanhattem.com. After experiencing a huge physical and mental burnout from working 16 hour days, not eating, not sleeping and living on caffeine she desperately needed time off. But the reality check didn’t hit her until she got the news that her boss had died from a heart attack.
Now a qualified holistic health coach, Editor in Chief and Broadcaster, Nicole is passionate about coaching in the corporate world where both men and women experience an imbalance. She is a strong believer in listening to your body and becoming connected from within.
Some of the insights you’ll discover from this episode are:
    • Always viewing yourself and your team as people first. If people don’t function the workplace doesn’t function either
    • Self-care is not selfish it is self-responsibility
    • Discussions on wellness and sustainability in female leaders
    • A balance of masculine and feminine energy for busy schedules and lifestyle
    • Asking yourself the big questions of “what is my definition of success?” Am I in alignment with my definition of success?
