  • Finding Freedom: A Journey to Unapologetic Clarity with Dr. Taniqua Miller, MD
    Apr 19 2023

In this episode, Dr. Taniqua Miller shares her journey of realizing that more isn't always better and how making small changes can start making big waves in our lives. She talks about how we are conditioned to suppress what we want to say, losing our sense of inner voice or intuition, and how it takes a lot of work to sit with yourself and decide what's for you. But once you do, she says, you can achieve freedom and become unapologetically clear on what you want and what you don't want.

Taniqua delves into the importance of challenging what we should do or shouldn't and how she shifted her career path from practicing medicine to becoming a Life Coach for burnt out 1st generation professional women of color who want to quit. She shares how her family responded to her decision and how it was a period of examination for her to determine what the next step was.

This episode is a must-listen for anyone looking to make a change in their life and for those who want to learn how to find their inner voice and achieve freedom. Join Taniqua as she shares her journey and inspires others to challenge the labels they've been given and make small changes that can lead to big waves in their lives.

  • Starting Over: Embracing Change and Finding Purpose with Sabrina Harris
    Mar 29 2023

In this episode, Anna interviews Sabrina, a former elementary school teacher who followed her gut feeling and decided to change paths, although she didn't exactly know where that path would take her. Along the way, she discovered her love for sales and, more importantly, her love for herself. Sabrina shares her journey of leaving her comfort zone and taking risks to pursue her dreams. She also discusses the importance of setting an example for her daughters by showing them that it's worth it to discover your purpose and take risks. In a moment of vulnerability, Sabrina opens up about her struggle with regret and forgiveness after her divorce. She talks about how she finally had to forgive herself, let go of the regret, and focus instead on gratitude, which was freeing and allowed her to move forward.

Throughout the conversation, Anna and Sabrina touch on the theme of women supporting women. Sabrina discusses how the women who have seen her at her worst are the ones who have stayed and loved her unconditionally. She also talks about how empowering women can have a positive impact on everyone. Realizing that she knows much more about life, herself, and her dreams today than she did at 25, Sabrina is ready to leave Chapter 2 behind and focus on what Chapter 3 will bring. She's excited about her future and how it will impact not just herself, but also her daughters and the women around her.

At an age where she finally gave zero fucks about nearly everything, my closest friend, Angela, found herself giving a fuck about one big thing: where the rest of her life was going. "Fired" from the most important job of her life, motherhood, when her younger son left home, Angela found herself a bit lost. She realized that she needed something to fill the void, but she didn't know exactly what that something was. When I reached out to her and asked her to join me on my real estate journey, she gladly said yes; but she quickly discovered that full-time, full-throttle real estate work wasn't for her. After finding a perfect combo of work, play, volunteering, and home duties, she realized that this was what she wanted her Chapter 3 to be about. Join us as we talk about Angela's newfound purpose, "mean" girls, the importance of introspection, and why we need to be our own cheerleaders, among many other topics. You won't want to miss this lighthearted and at times poignant conversation with one of the funniest ladies I know.

  • Embracing A Growth Mindset
    Mar 15 2023

You can always learn to do something new if you put your mind to it. You just have to have a passion for it and then exercise some serious grit to make it happen. American psychologist and Author, Dr. Carol Dweck coined the terms fixed mindset and growth mindset after studying children’s attitudes about failure. Dr. Dweck found that an individual’s mindset plays a significant role in their success, and most notably — that we are actually able to change our own mindsets.

In this episode, Anna talks about having a growth mindset. In a growth mindset, people believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work — brains and talent are just the starting point. This view creates a love of learning and a resilience that is essential for great accomplishment. A growth mindset isn’t magic. It is the belief that we can develop and improve our basic abilities through effort and experience, that we are in control of our own abilities, and that we can learn new things.

  • Feeling Empowered at 31 Rue Cambon
    Mar 8 2023

Anna felt like she had truly made it when she was at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris. Coco Chanel sure had when she opened her now-famous store in the early 1900s. She is still a model of the empowered businesswoman and branding maven, building an empire that will forever be at the forefront of fashion and style.

On that day in 2017, when Anna walked into 31 Rue Cambon, she was thinking of her daughter. It was then that Anna realized she wanted to buy something iconic, something fabulous that her daughter could inherit from her. That day was the first day that Anna realized she could buy these things for herself. This was a moment of liberation. These items represented so much. They represented freedom, financial success, the knowledge that Anna could treat herself and – ultimately – treat her daughter to an heirloom. She never thought that she'd be able to do that without anyone else’s help.

In this episode, Anna encourages you to reflect on the last thing that you bought for yourself that made you feel empowered.  It’s not about the item itself, it’s about how you felt when you were able to pay for it without asking anyone for permission. Have you ever given YOURSELF permission to do this? If not, what is holding you back from doing something for YOU?

This actually is not about the purchase at all. This represents the power. The power to be yourself. The power to leave a legacy. The power to be an example for the next generation of women. The power to be like Coco.
