Charter School Marketplace

By: Firebird Media LLC
  • Summary

  • In addition to almost half a billion dollars in annual federal funds, education is almost without exception the largest line item in state and county budgets. Charter schools provide a critical component to the educational landscape; serving nearly four million students, employing tens of thousands of staff, and occupying billions of dollars in annual spending. Transparency is key to a successful marketplace, the Charter School Marketplace is designed to facilitate this transparency. The Charter School Marketplace or CSM, is a multi-tiered program providing new channels for industry leaders to communicate directly with one another, allow suppliers high level access to decision makers, transparency into the actions of the schools and those of the policy makers who create the rules and fund the industry. We welcome you to be a part of this innovative and effective program. CSM is a program of the 7 Degrees of Change Foundation. A North Carolina 501C3, not-for-profit corporation dedicated to providing character based programs. For more information, visit charterschoolmarketplace.org.

This week’s Public Policy Player of the Week is North Carolina State Senator Phil Berger, who has served his position since the dawn of the new millenium.

Among the education reforms Senator Berger has championed in the State Senate in addition to supporting the charter school industry is: providing opportunity scholarships for disabled students and those in failing schools, increasing state dollars going directly into classrooms, lifting the cap on the number of innovative public charter schools in North Carolina, and a transparent, easy-to-understand A-F scale to rate and evaluate our public schools.
