I only paid attention to Cop City when I watched Black Power Media; after some time though, questions started arising, questions requiring answers which not many seemed keen on answering. The title for this episode hides the enormity of those questions; yet the question included in the title reveals that enormity at the same time. When considering the “state”, a country comes to mind, maybe some institutions, possibly the central government structure; but the state is significantly bigger than these conjured images or ideas. The state is these things plus more. Its persistence reveals this much. More fascinating, the diverse imaginations upon hearing the word reveals the state’s broad existence. All this said, the episode focuses not only on the question’s cosmopolitan impact, but the historical revelations associated with the struggles occurring in those bygone eras. Often given a pass to express their bloodthirsty extremism, the right is rarely intruded upon like the left is; in fact in the face of annihilative and outright murderous tendencies, the left has proven to be non-violent, practicing instead, a powerful morality relying on the correctness of their arguments rather than the fear from bodily harm. Understanding this dynamic colors this question in a way that seems self-conclusive.

I had no intention to produce another segment to the preceding episode, especially another episode on Israel; but I kept finding new information which I needed to share, along with comments that kept rising to the top of my mind, so I figured I would share both. Using the same approach I used on the last episode, I try to take a humanitarian view of the topics I discuss. The primary topic I tackled was the Generational Divide that has become apparent as this conflict unfolds; I place the divide at the feet of access to information. My generation, as well as Generation E (I am serious about not calling that generation Z for zombie), have grown up having access to people all over the world; thus our view of the world is global (more so with Gen E than my gen to be fair). Over the past 15 years we have been able to read, watch and listen to correspondents from people living in the Middle East including Israel and Gaza. We have been able to take in news items for international institutions who are more aligned with international law than U.S policy dictums. And, I think most importantly, the Humanity – the ordinary, boring, human existence – the MSM has stripped from the Palestinians, have been experienced by people who livestream with, game with and chat with in various corners of the mundane internet. From this divide I speak on the modern use of the phrase Antisemitism and how its connected to the Antisemitism that led tom the creation of Israel. There is much more to this episode than that, so I hope you enjoy.

The Saga continues. While the GOP continues to twist itself into knots trying to elect a house speaker; I take some time to get a few observations off my chest. First most is the huge, absolutely grand canyon sized opportunity many of the most vulnerable GOP members are missing by not partnering with the Democrats to elect a bi-partisan speaker (okay that is not the first topic I address). Second most, what is the meaning given to Patriotism, country first is what I remember many conservatives saying in the past. Well, are we not in a moment when country first is required to end the stalemate, and I want to emphasize the word stale in that statement; where the majority is not finding common ground in which to elect a speaker from? Third most, the discovered problem within the GOP of its members not wanting to govern or administer (which are different things). There is much more in this addendum turned segment; but I think these should wet your interest. Lastly, I plan on making this my final. . .oh hell I best not write that because who knows what fresh craziness awaits us this week or next. Just know this, this segment is more of a broad though experiment than an episode of information presented for your consideration. . . .or. . . .maybe, just maybe it is both. Sigh, this whole thing has left me lacking in descriptives.

(Title deliberately incorrect). The Green New Deal should be widely accepted based on the number of Americans who are, nearly 100 years after its implementation, supportive of the Old New Deal. In pondering why the Green New Deal was not widely supported I came up with a few “reasons, the primary one being – no, not the conservative attacks on the idea – but the fact people don’t know what the Old New Deal actually was. Which is understandable; to know what the New Deal was, is to read between the cultural lines of what “New Deal” actually means as well as having a slight economic understanding of the 50 years prior to the Great Depression. Both would enable you to appreciate how expansive the New Deal was and why most people at the time knew the New Deal wasn’t just about a few programs, it was about remaking the system their lives depended on.

The 1968 GOP – well a, at the time, fringe portion in the 1968 GOP – received everything their heart desired; they now control the house, the caucus is now controlled by extremists, free market principles dominate the country politically and economically, the media is filled with conservatives from the E-suites to the reporters on the beat and the legislative fight against everything non-white is escalating resulting in to reversal of the black rights legislation passed that decade; with eyes dead set on reversing every New Deal measure passed three decades before. Further, individualism rules the day while the post-new deal bureaucratic growth has been drastically decreased with many previous expansions undone by lobbyist inspired legislation. With all they’ve gained, you’d think the GOP would be filled with competent governing personnel, but they aren’t, why? See the second point in the above list. These pro-Capitalist, Free Market extremists are nihilists dedicated to ripping apart the governmental institutions they have pledged loyalty too. This episode builds off these sentiments.

As often is true with this podcast, I recorded the body before I compiled the audio clips you heard in “The Definition” section (yeah you didn’t know that’s why I put that there did you). This is important when listening to the body because the statements made were not influenced by any of the material presented, even the clip from Nelson Mandela – which I hadn’t heard before. The statements are crafted from thoughts I have had or thoughts I have compiled throughout the previous two decades. I began speaking about Russia’s attack on Ukraine, trying to unfold the confusion surrounding the tragic attack on Ukraine. I then move to the conflict in the state of, well in the United States the state would be called Israel but outside the U.S the state would be called Palestine. This was a very difficult episode to record and at multiple points I thought about abandoning it altogether because my statements are very much all over the place as I try to wrestle with the complex circumstances within each.

From corporate conservatism to authoritarian fascism. SPOILER ALERT, the emergency is, a corporate coup d’tat; the same corporate coup d’tat Ralph Nader diagnosed in 2001. Back then, seeing the processes leading to the usurpation was more than difficult for the average citizen, it was – thanks to lacking information on the subject – nearly impossible. Though, and this must be stated, most grassroot Republicans didn’t deny Bush’s reliance on SCOTUS to hand him the presidency, nor did they try to justify the ceasing of ballot counting in Florida. They, as one might say, took the W and considered the game over with no need to further litigate what transpired during its waning minutes. Today, justification for stealing the 2024 election has taken shape in the minds of many Republicans byway of Biden’s supposed illegitimate occupation of the white house. This justification has led to many people talking about suspending procedural civility, thus passing by personal morality, allowing for the use of extrajudicial and extralegal maneuvers to capture that which they believe was taken from them.

Let’s travel back in time to the 1890s, my favorite non-1900s decade. This decade is where I decided the current Neoconservative Nihilist strain began to form. Sure, in other episodes, some still forthcoming, I contend the strain goes back significantly farther, but for the sake of not having to go through those plotlines again, I stuck to this decade for this episode. Why this decade, listen to find out. I didn’t began there though, I first spoke about the shortcomings of the so called “Greatest Generation” (thanks to Tom Brokaw), completely renouncing the idea that they fought and defeated authoritarianism and fascism, two currents which fed not only American-style Capitalism but also the Jim Crow System. After presenting this argument I dive headlong into the history of this strain. Some of the information will sound familiar but much of it is new. Hope you’re ready.
