  • Get It Together with Cas: The Tough Love Edition | Clutterbug Podcast # 262
    Feb 17 2025

Buckle up, Buttercup, because today we’re talking tough love and small steps to BIG changes and create instant motivation. We’re going to tackle how to get your life together without feeling like you’re climbing Mount Everest - I’m sharing my favourite shortcuts and hacks that have seriously changed my life. Sound good? Let’s dive right in!

    1. Give Yourself a Reality Check - “NO ONE IS COMING TO RESCUE YOU”. We have the home, (body, relationship, finances etc) that we are willing to put up with. Don’t like where you are right now? Change it. Only you have the empower, so put on that cape and save your own damn self.
    2. Break Big Goals into 5-Minute Goals - Micro Commitments are the secret. Train your brain to stop the “all or nothing” mentality by focusing on tiny 5-minute tasks.
    3. Daily Brain Dump - Every morning write down all the things you want to get done and then circle the top three. Out of those top three, star the ONE that is NON-NEGOTIABLE and must get done that day.
    4. Try Hypnosis! I’m using an app called Kure and it’s been helpful! Change your brain just by listening.
    5. Create a Vision Board - Pick a few goals and dreams (make sure they are in the realm of possibility) and create a daily visual reminder! I have a FREE vision board template here: https://clutterbug.me/products/digital-vision-board-templates
    6. Get an Accountability Buddy! Schedule a weekly date through Zoom, a phone call or an in-person meeting and body double with someone while you get stuff done together!
    7. Get in a Win before 10:00am - Do a small thing that feels like an accomplishment before 10:00 am - Examples: Make your bed, write a to-do list, stretch for 10 minutes.
    8. Habit Stacking - Do a new tiny habit at the same time as you do an old habit - Example: Write a daily to-do list while your morning coffee brews or take your vitamins when you brush your teeth.
    9. Make a Power Playlist - Make a playlist with all the songs that fire you up!
    10. Borrow Motivation - Watch and listen to FIRED UP people and borrow some of their passion and fierce motivation. Here is a good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4KsEUiw3gA
    11. Nightly Gratitude Journal - I know…don’t roll your eyes, just try it.

So True for Me Too

This is one of my recharge methods too. I love the very word pudder. Yesterday was a day just as she describes, slow and steady. I spent the day drifting from one little easy short task to the next, no pressure. I also like listening to podcasts or movies and stopping for a sip or two of coffee as I pudder.

Tragic loss. RIP Oscar

Cass-I’m still listening at this moment to your tragic loss story…. This is awful-negligent, and devastating. I grew up across the street from our vet, and worked for him in the summers-my mom also worked one day a week at the clinic until he finally retired last month at age 85. We are dog people-just like you. My heart breaks for you-and I hate to say it, but this should NOT under any circumstance have happened. You just said what I was thinking-legally, they must have been overcrowded. Necropsy!! Yes, animal cruelty! If he was vomiting, of course he was going to be dehydrated! They must be held responsible! This is not ok, not legal, inhumane. I am so sorry your family experienced such a tragic loss. God bless you. Shame on this place….they should not be allowed to stay in business. They might be good people, but this is not your fault!
