• Can the 2024 Iowa Hawkeyes make the College Football Playoff? - w/Scott Dochterman
    Jul 30 2024

Scott Dochterman, who covers Iowa for the Athletic, will join me tonight and we will discuss the 2024 Iowa Hawkeyes football.

Brian Ferenz is gone as the offensive coordinator. Tim Lester has taken over the offense.

Will the offense get any better, or will it still be hamstrung by Captain Kirk?

Quarterback Cade McNamara returns. Iowa returns 18 returning starters, the most in the Power Four. But one player is missing, Cooper DeJean.

Will there be any drop off in the Iowa secondary because of Cooper DeJean?

Will there be any drop off in Iowa’s offense overall?

Can Iowa put an offense together that could get them into the college football playoff or win the Big Ten championship?

    What about Scott?

Was Scott forced to cover Iowa as a young person and now he’s stuck there forever or did he make that by choice?

If by choice, what appealed to him about Iowa?

  • Corn Nation Overreaction Revisits that Time Wisconsin Beat Us...Again
    Jul 26 2024

    I know, I know. This isn’t a fun headline. It wasn’t a fun game.

Well, it certainly started fun. Going up 14-0 after the first quarter, only to be outscored 24-3 the rest of the game.

Hoss and Greg discuss the game and grass fields, Braelon Allen going to the NFL, Jaylen Lloyd, turnovers, and more.

I’d like this description to be better but this isn’t my day and I have to get this episode out in a few minutes.

Who can forget Walter Matthau taking a paid position as the manager of a gaggle of foul-mouthed losers whom the league didn’t want? Tanner, Engleberg, Kelly Leak and Amanda taught many of us some prime and proper cursing in the bicentennial year which we still employ to this day.

And some more we definitely don’t.

And remember - Buttermaker’s not dead, he’s just drunk.

  • Audible Called and No Guest or Jon Tonight - Lots of Various Husker Football Topics Instead
    Jul 23 2024

Tonight, I’ll be talking to my friend Ramzey Nazrallah. He is the publisher of Eleven Warriors.com, a very large Ohio State site, and he knows everything about the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Buckeyes this year are poised to be a contender for the national title and win the Big Ten conference.

So let’s learn about the Buckeyes.

Who amongst the 18 five-star quarterbacks will be the starter?

Who are the great offensive players that we need to know about?

What does Ramsey think of the expanded new Big Ten and what is he most excited about?

Oregon joins the Big Ten, poised to begin at the top. What do Ohio State fans think of Oregon as a football team and as a potential new rival?

And what about Michigan????!!!! There’s a new coach, there’s a new Netflix documentary coming out about “SIGN STEALING”.

    So much going on!

    All these questions and more!!!!

    —————————

Well, things got weird. Jon didn’t have power tonight and largely no internet outside of his phone. So the audible was called and Greg did a one-man show tonight with the benefit of the comment section feeding him content.

Case in point - this hype video that Linda shared. Linda also had some R-rated thoughts for the guys watching this video.

  • Corn Nation Overreaction Revisits the 13-10 “L” to Maryland
    Jul 19 2024

This week on Overreaction Revisited, Hoss and Greg return to that fateful day, November 11, when the Maryland Terrapins invaded Memorial Stadium and left with a 13-10 win.

It may have been the most devastating loss of the season.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, went well for the Huskers. Three quarterbacks managed a measly 86 yards while throwing a combined four interceptions. Add in a lost fumble and it was not a good day for the offense.

Hell, two punts went further than ten receptions.

Javin Wright put on a performance, with eight tackles, a forced fumble, and an interception. But as we said a lot during 2023, the defense deserved better.

Thing get better. I mean, not in 2023, but 2024 sure looks promising.

    GBR...always.

  • Corn Nation Overreaction Revisited: That Time Hoss went to East Lansing and Hated It
    Jul 13 2024

This week on Corn Nation’s Overreaction Revisited podcast, Greg and Hoss go back to October of 2023 and Nebraska’s road loss to Michigan State.

Hear Hoss rip apart East Lansing and the surrounding areas, as well as his take on Spartan Stadium.

As a reminder in this game, and most of the troubles of the ‘23 campaign, turnovers played a decisive part in the outcome.

But that Comfort Inn and Suites leaves a lot to be desired.
