  • #2 - Twenty+ Years of Songwriting
    Jun 25 2024

We (Allysia and Dave) have been writing songs for 20+ years. And not just songwriting alone in our basements (though there's been plenty of that), but in bands; music to be performed at shows and recorded on albums. In Dave's case, this includes music that has even won an award. Music and songwriting trends have changed a lot over the years, and in this episode we discuss how our approach to songwriting has (and hasn't) changed along with the times. Our particular approaches to songwriting are quite different, so we compare and contrast. We also talk about our favourite songwriters, and our favourite things that we have written. • #1 - Making the Case for Creative Collaboration
    Jun 19 2024
Creative people - be they artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, comedians - can easily fall into "lone wolf" syndrome. This propensity to go it alone is even more prevalent today, because creatives have access to many more tools than the people of yesteryear (or, for Dave and Allysia, our past selves). In this episode, we discuss the important role collaboration has played in our lives, how we have chosen our collaborators, why collaborating is awesome even if you have the skills to go it alone, and how you can go about nurturing relationships which could potentially bear future collaborative fruit. We also discuss the origin story of our friendship, which, like all else on this podcast, seems to go back to Rob.
