12-year-old Celina Mays was born in the midst of her parents' toxic relationship. Their substance-addled union ended, and Celina stayed with her mother while her father moved in with his sister Cerita, a local pastor. After the tragic death of her mother, Celina was forced to move in with her father and his family, whom she barely knew.
