  • In this episode we explore Cuba’s folkloric poetry, the Punto Guajiro, through a few verses written by my cousin José Luis Rodríguez Martínez, who lives in Fomento, Cuba.

    Punto is the poetic voice of our Cuban farmers. It consists of singings an improvised or learned stanza of ten octameter verse lines, with a rhyming scheme accompanied by string instruments.

    En este episodio exploramos la poesía folclórica de Cuba, el Punto Guajiro, a través de unos versos escritos por mi primo José Luis Rodríguez Martínez, quien vive en Fomento, Cuba.

    El Punto es la voz poética de nuestros campesinos cubanos. Consiste en cantar una estrofa improvisada o aprendida de diez versos octamétricos, o sea una decima acopañado con instrumentos de cuerda.
