  • Does covid vaccine can cause heart attack?
    May 3 2024

AstraZeneca, the maker of the COVID-19 vaccine Covishield, has admitted in court that the vaccine can cause rare side effects, including a condition called Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS) that leads to blood clots and low platelet count. This admission came during a lawsuit in the UK where victims are seeking damages for deaths and severe injuries allegedly caused by the vaccine. The first complainant, Jamie Scott, claims the vaccine led to a permanent brain injury due to a blood clot. AstraZeneca acknowledges that Covishield can cause TTS in very rare cases, but the causal mechanism is unknown. Determining causation in individual cases will require expert evidence.

  • Problems with the implementation of Street Vendors Act
    May 2 2024

In this episode we discusses the significant role of street vendors in Indian culture and highlights the enactment of a law to protect and regulate street vending across urban areas in India. This law recognizes street vendors as an essential part of urban life and aims to safeguard their livelihoods. It mandates the creation of vending zones where all "existing" vendors are to be accommodated and issued vending certificates. The governance of these zones is to be overseen by Town Vending Committees (TVCs), which must include 40% street vendor representatives, with a 33% sub-representation of women vendors. These committees are responsible for integrating vendors into these designated zones and addressing any related grievances through a Grievance Redressal Committee, headed by a civil judge or judicial magistrate. This approach sets a framework for inclusive and participatory management of street vending, promoting organized urban development while acknowledging the cultural and economic importance of vendors in Indian cities.
