Movie recap of a Baby Born as an Old Man who Becomes Younger As He Ages - Daisy Fuller is dying in a New Orleans hospital in August 2005, as Hurricane Katrina approaches. She tells Caroline about Mr. Gateau, a blind clockmaker hired in 1918 to make a train station clock. When it was unveiled, it ran backwards. Mr. Gateau made it that way as a memorial for the children lost in WWI, including his own son. He vanished. Caroline then reads from Benjamin Button's diary. On November 11, 1918, a boy with the appearance and ailments of an elderly man is born. Caroline dies in childbirth, and Thomas Button abandons the father on a nursing home's porch. Queenie finds the baby and raises him as her own, naming him Benjamin. As opposed to a wheelchair, Benjamin learns to walk in 1925. On Thanksgiving 1930, Benjamin meets Daisy, a seven-year-old whose grandmother lives in a nursing home. A tugboat captained by Mike Clark later hires him. Benjamin meets Thomas, unaware that he is his father. Daisy joins George Balanchine's dance company in New York City in the autumn of 1936. In 1941, Benjamin begins an affair with Elizabeth Abbott, the British Trade Minister's wife. In December, America enters WWII. Mike lends his boat to the US Navy for salvage work. During a patrol, they discover a sunken US transport containing many US troops. Mike aims it at full speed while a German gunner fires on them, killing most of the crew, including Mike. An explosion sinks both ships. The next day, US Navy ships rescue Benjamin and another crewman. With Queenie, Benjamin returns to New Orleans in May 1945, learning that "Tizzy" has died. A few weeks later, he meets Daisy for dinner. She leaves after failing to seduce him. Later, Benjamin visits a dying Thomas, who reveals he is his father. Button company and bequest left to Benjamin In 1947, Benjamin unexpectedly visits Daisy in New York, but she is with someone else. Daisy's dancing career ends in 1954 when her leg is crushed in a Paris car accident. Daisy is amazed by Benjamin's youth, but frustrated by her injuries, she tells him to leave her alone. Daisy rejoins Benjamin in New Orleans in 1962. They fall in love and go sailing together as they get older. Queenie has died, so they return together. Daisy, who has opened a ballet studio, informs Benjamin of her pregnancy in 1967. Caroline was born in 1968. Benjamin sells his assets, leaves the money for Daisy and Caroline, and leaves to travel alone in the 1970s, believing he cannot be a proper father due to his reverse aging. In 1980, Benjamin sees Daisy. Daisy introduces him to her husband and daughter as a family friend. She accepts he had to leave; she couldn't cope. She later visits him at his hotel before they part. Social workers contact Daisy in 1990, after finding Benjamin, now a pre-teen. Arriving at the hospital, they explain that he was living in a condemned building and that they found her name in his diary. Daisy moves Benjamin into a nursing home in 1997 because he is showing signs of dementia. Daisy says Mr. Gateau's clock was replaced by a digital one in 2002. Benjamin dies in Daisy's arms in the spring of 2003, still a baby but 84 years old. Daisy dies as Hurricane Katrina approaches, having finally told Caroline about her father. As a montage recaps his life, Benjamin discusses the purpose of people's existence.
