  • Has Social Media Changed the Way We Think? with Ayman Hariri, Co-Founder & CEO of Vero
    May 30 2023

In this episode of DAO Talks, Tim is joined by Ayman Hariri, the Co-Founder and CEO of Vero. Launched in 2015, Vero is a social media platform that markets itself as an ad-free and algorithm-free social media network. It operates on responsible technology principles and focuses on helping people connect without employing the techniques known to promote addiction. Ayman believes that “free” social apps come at a cost, risking users’ personal data and privacy. Ayman has taken a unique approach to creating a social media network and he is exploring integrating Web3 into Vero.

Ayman is also the son of the late Rafik Hariri, Lebanon’s former prime minister in 2005, and he invests in startups through New York-based firm Red Sea Ventures.

Together, they discuss why Vero was made to combat the addictiveness of other social media platforms, why people act differently online compared to how they do in real life, and why we, as a species, are inherently drawn to sharing, collaborating, and helping each other. The problem, then, surely, is that most social networks have changed our behavior and turned us more against each other than we really should be - how do we fix that?
