All or Nothing ft James Heybourn.

The common mistake dads make when they decide to try and make a change to their lives is trying to change too much too quickly. It's often unsustainable.

It's exciting to think that you can wake up tomorrow, reduce your calorie intake, start hitting the gym 5 times a week and totally cut out alcohol. The reality is different.

All or Nothing? Usually, it's more a case of trying to become a 7 out of 10. Small compounding steps create big behavioural changes.

  • DadLift #3: Excessive; Eating & Drinking (ft: Luke Mitchell)
    Aug 16 2023

It's a tough conversation, especially for those dads who are drinking excessively. Luke describes how in every instance, it's never about the alcohol. It's about the gap that alcohol fills, the trauma it covers and the challenges it solves.

In reality, those challenges never do get solved by alcohol, and I think most dads know that. Short-term fix.

One of the best pieces of advice I ever received was from a CEO that I used to work with; Sam. Sam has faced some pretty big challenges personally and professionally, but he's always 'ran into his fears'. It's hard, but everything can be resolved, and I hope this episode sparks that mentality for dads out there who are drinking too much to take action and run into their fears head-on.
