  • Dallas Metro Podcast (Episode #51) Featuring Special Guest Billy Wilson
    Oct 1 2024

Our host Pastor Clay welcomes missionary Billy Wilson. Billy Wilson, a retired missionary, received his calling at the young age of 12 when he envisioned himself preaching to a sea of African faces during a youth rally. Despite initial doubts about his ability to fulfill such a role, Wilson pursued his calling by attending Bible school, where he met his wife, Jo. Together, they began their life of missionary work in Africa, first in Zaire (now the Democratic Republic of Congo), and later in Rwanda, where they helped rebuild churches and communities in the aftermath of civil wars and genocide. Their early experiences in these war-torn regions deeply shaped their resilience and commitment to their mission.

After nearly two decades in Central Africa, Billy and Jo considered retiring from missionary work but felt compelled to continue when they learned about the unreached tribes in Madagascar. In 2013, they moved to the southeastern coastal town of Manakara, a remote area on the edge of the rainforest. There, Billy played a key role in planting churches in isolated villages, where animism and witchcraft dominated, and modern conveniences were scarce. His mission focused on spreading the message of Jesus in these villages, where the locals responded favorably after witnessing the power of God surpassing that of their traditional witch doctors.

The Wilsons’ influence extended beyond their personal efforts as they trained young Malagasy church planters, many of whom walked for days through the bush to attend training. Although Billy and Jo have now fully retired from the missionary field, their decades-long dedication left an enduring legacy of faith and service in some of the most remote and challenging parts of Africa.
