    Welcome back to Dancescope! After a short break to rearrange life, we are back with more exciting episodes and new ideas to come! We kick off the year with the incredible Zoi Dimitriou! Zoi was born in Athens, Greece. She graduated from the Greek State School of Dance with Honours, going on to study with Trisha Brown in New York. She completed a masters degree in European Dance Theatre Practice at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in London, graduating with distinction. As a dancer, Zoi has worked with Kirstie Simson, Yvonne Rainer, Felix Ruckert and Siobhan Davies, among others. She launched her choreographic career in 2006 and her professional portofolio includes, among other works: Can You See Me? (2006), Dromi(2007), Limen (2007), Goddesses in Exile (2008), In The Process of … (2010), Little Creatures (2011), You May! (2012), The Chapter House (2014), Side Effects (2015), Peregrinus (2017), Vanishing Points (2018), When Pillars Evaporate; Work in Progress (2019).   • Dancescope ep.5: A must-hear conversation with Nafisah Baba

    A lot can be said about Nafisah and yet not enough to describe her artistry, talent and spirit. Nafisah is a classically trained contemporary dancer, starting dance at the Pamela Howard School of Dance before later joining the West London School of Dance. She graduated from Tring Park School for the Performing Arts in 2015 and joined Chrysalis London, where her love for contemporary dance grew. During this time, she also gained a BA Honours degree in Professional Practice at Middlesex University.

    In 2017 Nafisah won BBC Young Dancer and since then, has gone on to work with various dance companies and choreographers, as well as performing in the UK, Europe, and Asia. Prior to lockdown Nafisah was performing in Kate Prince’s ‘Message in a Bottle’ with Zoonation and recently she has featured in Sadler’s Wells Global Gala, Beyonce’s new movie ‘Black is King’, Ellie Goulding’s first virtual live-streamed performance, ‘The Brightest Blue Experience’, and was part of ‘Our Bodies Back’ in collaboration with Sadler’s Wells, Jonzi D and Jessica Care Moore.   • Dancescope ep.4: Get inspired by the amazing Riccardo Buscarini

    A deep, honest and inspiring conversation with the amazing Riccardo Buscarini. Italian Award-winning choreographer Riccardo Buscarini is an artist focused on constantly changing his creative approach to choreography and exploring its possible interactions with other art forms. Incredibly knowledgable and diverse in his work, Riccardo will open your minds and inspire you to create work, outside of your comfort zone, explore, research and find new ways to express yourselves. 

    Riccardo trained at Accademia Domenichino da Piacenza/IT and London Contemporary Dance School where he graduated in 2009. Highlights of his career so far include winning The Place Prize 2013 with the piece Athletes, the participation in the international research projects danceWEB (Impulstanz, Vienna), Creatives in Residence at The Hospital Club (London), ArtsCross London 2013 (UK, Taiwan and China), Performing Gender (Italy, Croatia, Spain, the Netherlands), MAM-Maroc Artist Meeting in Marrakech. His work in the visual arts field include collaborations with Summerhall (Edinburgh), London Festival of Architecture (2016 and 2019), and with London gallery Nahmad Projects during the exhibition i’m NOT tino sehgal curated by Francesco Bonami and miart - fiera di arte moderna e contemporanea di Milano 2017. Silk, his Golden Mask 2018 double-nominated creation on Chelyabinsk Contemporary Dance Theater (Russia) has been restaged at ZfinMalta, the National Dance Company of Malta in autumn 2019. In 2020 is one of the choreographers of EDGE (The Place, London). Riccardo has approached opera direction working on traditional and new compositions. He has assisted Giuseppina Campolonghi, Italo Nunziata and Leonardo Lidi at Teatro Municipale (Piacenza), Teatro Pavarotti (Modena) and Teatro Valli (Reggio Emilia), Italy.
