    E19: Inanna’s Descent: A Heroine’s Journey of Self-Knowledge, Growth, and Transformation

In this week's episode, we continue working with the Goddess Inanna, focusing on her myth, her story of her descent to the underworld. This story contains many lessons we can learn and use in our self-discovery journey and life today.

Host, Tora Moon, shares a retelling of Inanna’s Descent, one of the first stories written in Western Civilization. This story provides the foundations of the Heroine’s Journey story structure. At it’s heart, this story is one of self-knowledge, transformation, and growth. Inanna guide us, as women, in regaining the Queen’s throne stolen by patriarchy through the principles of the Divine Feminine.

Join me in this episode as we descend into the underworld with Inanna.

E18 - Inanna: Goddess of Paradoxes
This month for the Goddess of the Month, we’re connecting with the Mesopotamian Goddess Inanna. She’s also called Ishtar. Inanna is a Goddess of paradoxes which makes her really interesting and fun goddess to connect with.

Inanna guides us in learning to balance duality, loyalty, and empowering ourselves through our bodily autonomy. The story of how she brings the gifts of civilization to humanity is a lesson in the differences between patriarchal leadership and leading from the feminine divine.

Join me as we talk about the paradoxes of the Goddess Inanna.

  • The Heroine’s Journey: Reflecting Women’s Stories
    Feb 6 2024

    E17 - The Heroine’s Journey: Reflecting Women’s Stories

In this second part of sacred storytelling, we discuss the shift in paradigms and a new way to structure and tell our stories as women. We don’t have to stick to the hero’s journey, which doesn’t reflect our journey as women. In this episode, I’ll share with you the heroine’s journey story structure and how we can use it in writing or telling our stories, and in our life.

The heroine’s journey is a reflection of how women perceive life and our lived experience. You’ll find this structure in many stories written by women for women. These are often discounted by men—like all women’s work. We’ll also explore why the heroine’s journey is better for us to use than the hero’s journey in our healing and spiritual awakening.

  • Womanly Arts: Reclaiming the Value of Women’s Work
    Jan 24 2024

E15: Womanly Arts: Reclaiming the Value of Women’s Work

In the world today, the work of women has been devalued, demeaned, and diminished. The Goddess Brigid oversaw all the womanly arts of home, hearth, fertility, textile arts, and even agriculture. Once upon a time, our work was seen as necessary for survival. But today, they’re seen as something not really necessary or valuable. Our work and contributions aren’t taken seriously.

Join me in this episode as we discover a new, more empowering definition for what womanly arts are. This will help us think differently about what we do. We can begin to reclaim the value of our work, ourselves, and other women. This will support us in healing the generational trauma of having the work we do seen as less than a man’s work or effort and therefore, less valuable.

    Jan 17 2024

E14 - Dancing with the Goddess Brigid: gniting Our Hope for the End of Patriarchy’s Winter

It’s the new moon! The first new moon in 2024. Our Goddess of the Month is the Celtic Goddess, Brigid. Among her many qualities and gifts are healing, storytelling, and crafting. Brigid is both a fire and water goddess, bringing us the fire of inspiration and the water of healing.

Discover how connecting to and attuning with the Goddess Brigid gives us the hope of spring—a spring beyond the winter of patriarchy. She reminds us our “womanly” arts are a spiritual practice and our spirituality is different from the way men practice it. She ignites our passion and inspiration to share our stories with other women to heal ourselves and each other.

I invite you to join me in this episode as we learn more about the Goddess Brigid and how we can connect with her. We'll talk about her background, her qualities, and some of her stories, including her connection with Saint Brigit.

I have a special bonus as part of this episode. I wrote a short story about Brigid, which I share with you as part of this podcast episode. As a special gift for my listeners/watchers, download your free copy of the original short story, Brigid’s Fire, by Tora Moon.

  • Are You Sharing from an Empty or Full Cup?
    Jan 9 2024

E13 - Are You Sharing from an Empty or Full Cup? Awakening to Being Self-Full & Healing the Mother Martyr Syndrome

We are taught in patriarchy society that we, especially women, need to be altruistic and selfless. This causes us to fall into what I call the Mother Martyr Syndrome, where we give, and give, and give, until there is nothing left of us ourselves. We give from an empty cup. When we try to do anything for ourselves, to take care of ourselves, we are called selfish.

It’s time for women to awaken to their Feminine Divine Presence and become self-full—their full self. When we do, we can continually refill our cup to share our gifts without becoming a martyr.

Join me in this episode as we talk about the difference between being selfless—less than yourself, and self-full—being your full Self. Explore how that can make a huge difference in your life and how you help other people. Discover how to heal the Mother Martyr Syndrome and stop giving from an empty cup. When we share from a place of self-fullness, our cup is always being refilled. Giving from a full cup is better for everyone than from giving from an empty one.

  • Do You Love Your Body? The Divine Connection Between Body Image and Self-Love
    Jan 4 2024

E12 - Do You Love Your Body? The Divine Connection Between Body Image and Self-Love

There is an integral connection to ourselves, our souls, and our physical bodies. Many women, myself included, have problems and challenges with having a good body image. Society has conditioned us to think of our body as something separate, or even evil, from ourselves. We are taught self-love is selfish and loving our bodies is wrong. But we can’t be whole and complete without loving our bodies and our selves. There is an integral connection to ourselves, our souls, and our physical bodies.

In this episode, I talk about where this skewed body image stems from and how we can change it to be healthy, balanced, and in harmony with ourselves.
