When the reds came out of the all-star break, all we heard was, they’re ready for a run…….especially after beating juggernauts colorado and miami in back to back series at home. The first series after the break, the worst three days of the season….a sweep against washington……after wins in atlanta, the reds roll into tampa bay, score four runs in three games, lose two of three against the rays, including yesterday’s killer loss. This offense is so bad. The defense stinks and their baserunning blunders occur virtually every night. Did Hunter Greene really have to leave the game at 100 pitches? Is that a hard rule? Lucas Sims? With the bases loaded? Are you kidding? Tonight the cubbies come to town for the first of a three-game series. That’s a series for last place. • The Reds beat the Colorado Rockies yesterday afternoon 8-1. They won the series 3-1 scoring 31 runs.
• The reds offense was solid with 14 hits, 8 of them being extra base hits.
• 2 Reds had 3 hit games and 3 more reds had multi hit games
• Jonathan India was 3-4 with a walk and a double
• Spencer steer was 3-5 with a double
• Tyler Stephenson had 5 rbis and 2 hits. Both of those being 2 home runs. He finished the series 8-18 with 4 home runs and 3 doubles
• Reece Hinds finished his first series in the majors 8-16 with 6 extra base hits 4 rbis, 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored
• Espinal had an RBI in every game this series and went 6-12 in the series. He mashed a home run yesterday
• The story of yesterdays game was Hunter greene. He struck out the first 6 batters he faced. 6 innings, 2 hits, 1 earned run while striking out a season high 10 batters . His era sits at 3.34 .
• The reds are back at it tonight against Miami who has lost 7 of 9
• Carson Spiers is going up against Yonny Chirinos. Spiers has a 3.64 era with 32 strikeouts while chirinos 4.19 era with a 1.6 whip

• The Phillies complete their sweep of the dodgers winning 5-1. Nola dominated with 6 innings and 9 strikeouts. Schwarber turner and marsh all hitting home runs
• Pirates shutout the brewers 1-0. Paul skenes was pulled after going 7 innings striking out 11 and not allowing a single hit.
• Tigers eviscerate the Guardians 10-1. Flahrety is having a hell of a season
• Mets shutout the nationals 7-0 to complete their sweep
• Cubs shutout the orioles 8-0 to complete their sweep. They scored 21 runs in the series allowing 2 runs. They had two shutouts
• Rays beat the Yankees 5-4. It got sketchy towards the end where the game winning catch was seemingly dropped but after discussion the ball came out during celebration
• Diamondbacks shutout the Braves 1-0
• Mariners trample the angels 11-0
• Red Sox shutout Oakland 7-0

The Reds scored 8 runs in three games. They struck out 39 times, including 15 yesterday, while walking 5 times. In terms of batting average and OBP, they are AMONG THE VERY WORST in Major League Baseball. And it’s not going to change….. It might be over the next seven days against the two worst teams in baseball, but until the injured return or the guys here now find a magic Jeanie….it isn't getting better. And btw….the Reds made a deal last night, acquiring giants outfielder Austin slater. He’s 31 years old…. basically a fifth outfielder on a good team. The Reds have lots of those already. Slater is hitting .200 in 45 games with one home run. They traded right-hander Alex Young to get him. Young has pitched brilliantly at Louisville after starting the year injured….pitched well last year for the team. Colorado comes to town for the first of four tonight. THE REDS ARE six games under .500, 10 ½ games behind the brewers in the NL Central. We will talk more about the team in a minute… The rosters for the all-star game came out yesterday..there are 33 first-time all-stars and 19 players under the age of 27, including the Red's very own Elly De La Cruz! One of the best stories is former Red Jeff Hoffman. He’s 31 years old and is going to his first all-star game as a member of the Phillies. The Reds let him walk out the door after an excellent 2022 season. How about FC Cincinnati? Like all of last year, they now have the best record in the MLS after blasting Inter Miami FC at TQL stadium over the weekend. FCC has lost just four times all season and will host Charlotte FC on Saturday.
