  • Leadership and Approval
    May 30 2022
Season 02 / Episode 04 A common understanding in Western culture of what it is to be a leader is an especially talented front person who carries with them a special, world-changing vision. This combination sets them apart from “ordinary people” and, when success is added to the mix, the result is often elevation to celebrity status. The American Church is not immune to to this behavior; in fact, history proves that they have succumbed to it time and time again with disappointing and destructive consequences. The question is: “Why”? In this episode, Mike and Nate talk about ambition, approval, breaking free of the culture we’ve created, and learning to lead without losing our humanity. • Discovery Bible
    May 9 2022
Season 02 / Episode 02 God and the Gospel are unchanging, but societies and cultures are changing constantly. One of the challenges to helping people follow Jesus in nominally-Christian and post-Christian cultures is generally low engagement with the Bible. “Faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.” (Romans 10:17, NLT) One of the principle ways in which people hear the Good News is from the Bible. But how will they hear it if they aren’t engaging with it? In this episode, Mike and Nate talk about Discovery Bible Method, a tool that facilitates evangelism and discipleship by making reading the Bible easy and accessible. DBM and its various iterations are having a major impact around the world and the western Church has much to profit by adopting its principles. (Recorded April 2022)

  • Real-Time Learning
    May 2 2022
Season 02 / Episode 01 Learning is at the heart of discipleship, and Jesus invites his followers to learn from him as they follow him. It is one thing to learn from him in "stationary" environments like Bible study, book reading and listening to talks and sermons. But what about learning on the go? What might it look like to learn from him in real-time as we engage with real life? In this episode, Mike and Nate reflect back on Season 1, share what they learned and discuss the importance of the pause between "stimulus" and "response". (Recorded April 2022)
