There are other views such as dualism that are held, however materialism is the most common- especially among cognitive scientists. You can read more here. Randy Schroeder was the associate director and educational counselor with TRIO at The University of New Hampshire. Don states that schools with formal mentorship programs retain faculty 40-50% better than those without. While I couldn’t find this exact study, there was a study that assessed the impact of a formal mentorship program on junior faculty satisfaction and productivity.
