E-commerce in Retail | Smaller Retailers Now Blazing the Technology and Innovation Trails

  • Resumen

  • The COVID-19 pandemic completely turned the retail world on its head as regards e-commerce. Digital purchasing changed from being an important but still very much “nice-to-have” component of the retail sales profile and mainly the domain of larger, international retail players – to being an absolutely essential part of the retail world with smaller, independent retailers leading the way in terms of technology adoption, digital innovation and future vision.

Miriam Simon is an experienced business strategist and retail expert. She has over 30 years of experience in the retail industry, working in senior roles at some of the world's leading brands, including TK Maxx, Monsoon Accessorize, LifeStyle Sports, and B&Q.
In this edition of the Digital Knowledge Transfer Podcast, we talk about the dynamics of how the pandemic radically changed the commercial landscape for the retail world, how many smaller retailers embarked on a very steep learning curve to empower themselves with the knowledge required to transform their businesses from traditional retail to e-commerce, and some of the technical tools and platforms the were central to enabling this shift. We also look at some of the new innovations that are further revolutionising the market, and what retailers should be look to ensure they remain relevant in the future.
