  • Benjamin Franklin has been the focus of many books and movies. Most recently, the esteemed man of many talents is the focus of the eponymous TV mini series, “Franklin.” Michael Douglas stars as the 70-year-old Franklin, who is sent over to France with his grandson, Temple Franklin. Franklin’s assignment? Enlist the help of the French government in defeating the British. The series is written by Kirk Ellis, who also penned the screenplay for the Emmy-winning TV mini series, “John Adams.” Kirk joins the podcast to talk about his experience researching and writing the story of Franklin’s biggest gamble of his career, as well as what it was like to be on set in France during the filming, where he even got to don wig and costume as an extra.
