Entertainment Law Extravaganza

  • Summary

  • Welcome back, listeners! Season two, episode four brings something different for you all. During this semester, Jen and Cam were in an entertainment law class. For their final, they decided to interview three people in the comic book industry and pick their brains on an array of topics.

Darren Vincenzo, Scott Peterson, and Jordan “Gorf” Gorfinkel all worked together at DC, mainly on world-renowned comics like Batman. Collectively, they have worked on more than 2,000 stories over a decade’s time.

These three comic geniuses gave us the inside scoop on their past projects, their experiences with and viewpoints on trademark and copyright laws (is creativity encouraged or inhibited?), the questionable use of artificial intelligence, predictions of comic book characters, drawing parallels between the copyright protection of Disney’s and DC’s characters once they are entered into the public domain, the evolution of the iconic Batman logo, and even the “comics code” when it comes to censorship.
