Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell had one of the most famous rivalries in NBA history, marked by a fierce competition on the court that defined an era of basketball during the 1960s. Their rivalry was characterized by contrasting styles of play and differing approaches to basketball.

I want to talk to you about the playing styles. Wilt Chamberlain was known for his incredible scoring ability, rebounding, and size. He often dominated offensively, scoring points at will. Bill Russell, on the other hand, was renowned for his defensive prowess, shot-blocking ability, and leadership. He focused more on team success and was a master at making critical defensive plays.

Head-to-Head Matchups**: The rivalry was highlighted by their matchups in the playoffs, particularly in the Eastern Conference. Chamberlain’s Philadelphia 76ers and Russell's Boston Celtics met frequently, with the Celtics often coming out on top, especially during the playoffs. The Celtics won 11 championships during Russell’s career, while Chamberlain won two.

The third thing is 1960s NBA Finals. The rivalry reached its peak during the NBA Finals, where Russell's Celtics defeated Chamberlain's teams multiple times. Most notably, the Celtics won against the 76ers in the 1967 Eastern Conference Finals, ending Chamberlain's best chance at a championship with a powerhouse team.

Wilt Chamberlain holds numerous scoring records, including the highest points per game in a single season (50.4). Bill Russell, though not a prolific scorer like Chamberlain, has the record for the most championships won by a player in NBA history.

Everybody is talking about LeBron James, but I've been watching Joel Embiid. LeBron broke Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's career scoring record, but Embiid also broke Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain's record of 68 points. Both achievements are significant milestones in the history of the NBA and showcase the talent and skill of these two players.

LeBron may be number one but Embiid is making a case for being the best player in the league right now. He's a force on both ends of the court and showcasing his scoring ability. He plays like a monster blocking shots, making step back moves , pump bakes, and rebounds. Embiid is showing his defensive skills. So while LeBron may be getting all the attention, don't sleep on Joel Embiid. He has impressive performance.

Joel Embiid has a record of 6 to 3 versus LeBron James in his career. So keep your eyes on Joel Embiid. He's a monster on the court.

  • Marvin Gaye’s Tryout for the Detroit Lions 7:8:24 6.13 PM

    Intro by: Gail Nobles
    Story by: Gail Nobles

Did you know two members of the Detroit Lions sang on Marvin Gaye’s hit What's Going On. It was Mel Farr and Lem Barney. They made friends with Marvin. Marvin Gaye tried out for the Detroit Lions. He believe that he could play football and that he had mentality. Lem Barney thought that Marvin could have played ball if he had started early on. Marvin was in his 30s when he tried out for football. If I'm not mistaken, Lem Barney said Marvin did pretty good. He just lacked some experience. Marvin was unable to make it a football career.

I think Marvin should have been able to play, but that's just my opinion. If Marvin had the mentality like he said, and if he had a good understanding of the game, I don't think it was too late for Marvin. If he was hungry for football success and was willing to be persistent, I think he would have made it. If Joe Schmidt the coach would have kept on working with Marvin, he would have eventually picked up on things and played well.

The Philadelphia 76ers drafted Lewis eighteenth in the first round of the 1973 NBA draft. By all accounts he played spectacularly during rookie camp, outplaying Doug Collins, the No. 1 pick in the draft and a star for the 1972 U.S. Olympic team. However, after a contract dispute, the 76ers said Lewis walked out. According to Lewis in 1985, 76ers coach Gene Shue told him to sit out a year and mature. The following year Lewis said he left because the 76ers "tore up my original agreement and said, 'Now you have to make the team.' There were 12 guys on the team with guaranteed contracts. I said, 'Wait a minute.'

In his second professional year he tried to play for the ABA's Utah Stars but the 76ers threatened a lawsuit that kept him from playing. In 1975, he was invited back to Philadelphia one more time, for the third year of his three-year contract, but did not make the team.
Lewis battled alcoholism and depression for the later part of his life. He died in February 2001 of complications following amputation of an infected leg and a stroke.

I've seen the documentary on Raymond Lewis. He could really play basketball. They said the things he did on the court was how the players played today. Raymond, I'm sure was before his time, and it seemed the NBA didn't want him.

Raymond would run down the court with the ball doing back dribbles. He was just unstoppable. He made his shots. When he reached 30 years old, he was still that good and never played in the NBA. He must've had something that Magic Johnson and Dr. J and all the other great players didn't have. They must have feared him. They had to. How are you not going to want someone as good as Raymond Lewis?

Some people just don't want to see people make it, and when things are not so good in their lives, they wonder why. Raymond Lewis still made history with his God-given talent. He may not have made history the way Dr. J and all those other players made it, but he made history. Raymond Lewis was so good the NBA didn't want him. Like I said, they feared him. Because as good as he was, he should have been able to play in the NBA.

    Story: Resurren Meets George Stilts
    The Mighty Air Gliders
Story and art by: Gail Nobles ©️2024

George Stilts played on an exhibition basketball team called The Mighty Air Gliders. He had been watching Resurren play ball on the playground from a distance. George didn’t want her to know that he was watching.

One cool dark night Resurren was shooting hoops alone. She heard a voice speaking to her.

George: You won’t have to worry about old Jack helping you to get nowhere. You don’t need him. One day soon I’m going to have you.

Resurren saw a tall young man standing far off from her, and she couldn’t see his face very well.

Resurren: Have me? What are you talking about? Do I know you?

George: You’re going to be on my team. They’ll be no playing around. I’ll be training you to work on the court up and down.

    Resurren: Work?

George: Players need to practice their skills, work on their fitness, and strategize with their team in order to be successful on the court. It takes dedication, perseverance, and a competitive mindset to come out on top in basketball. Just like in any job, hard work and effort are required to achieve success. But the rewards of victory and the thrill of competition make it all worth it in the end. If you play on my team, you’ll be on a winning team getting paid.

Resurren: Who are you? What’s the name of that team you’re talking about? George turned and walked away. Resurren didn’t try to follow him. She felt a little nervous about being in the dark alone after talking to the stranger and she went inside. Her home was not far from the playground. Resurren never heard the voice of the stranger again until her senior year.

One day five famous female girls from the Mighty Air Gliders challenged Resurren and her high school team. They started pushing Resurren around. Everyone thought they were trouble. Nobody knew who the girls really were. Not even Resurren. But the teachers and the principal knew. They were planning something for the schools. Rezza and her high school basketball team were in an event that provided scholarships. Both male and female basketball teams. The female Cobras played against the female Mighty Air Gliders who disguised themselves as the Hoop Stars.

They were playing in a tournament where the winning team would receive scholarships for college. The stakes were high, as many of the girls and guys participating were hoping to earn a scholarship to continue their education after high school. The pressure was on, but they were determined to give it their all and come out on top.

In the end,The Cobras and The Hoop Stars were the last teams to play against each other, both the male team and female team. The female Cobras lost by 10 points against the female Hoop Stars, and the male Cobras lost 15 points against the male Hoop Stars. In the end, The Hoop Stars revealed that they were the famous Mighty Air Gliders. The male and female Cobras lost against them but still received scholarships for being in the number 1 spot over the other shool teams, showcasing their talent and potential to succeed at a higher level of competition.

The scholarships allowed them to pursue their college education without the burden of heavy student loans, opening up new opportunities and possibilities for their futures. The experience of winning the tournament and earning the scholarships had a lasting impact on the students, instilling in them a sense of confidence and determination that would serve them well in their future endeavors. There were also 2nd and 3rd place cash and prizes.

As Resurren happily walked down the hall later that day to her locker to go home, she heard the voice that spoke to her in the dark.

George: Remember, one day you’re going to be on my team, but not now.

When Resurren turned aound to look behind her, it was George Stilts. She knew then who had spoken to her in the dark. It was one of the Mighty Air Gliders.

Awesome slam from Jaylen Brown on two men. They just couldn't stop him!Hello! I'm Gail Nobles on EPS (Entertainment Podcasting Sports). It was the 2024 NBA finals game 1: Dallas Mavericks versus Boston Celtics. In that game, I saw Jaylen Brown make an unstoppable slam. Dallas was at 26 and Celtics at 42 and Jalen's fiery slam moved the Celtics up to 44 in the second half.

The final was 89 to 107 Celtics. Jaylen Brown lead the Celtics with 22 points. He looks like another leader for the Celtics, and a three-time NBA All-Star and reached the Eastern Conference finals six times with Boston. He helped the Celtics reach the 2022 and 2024 NBA finals winning a championship and finals MVP award in the latter.

Jaylen Brown is awesome in several areas on the basketball court making points, rebounds, blocks, steals, three-pointers, and assists. He is another player that is very valuable on the Boston Celtics team. Will Celtics bring home another championship for 2025? We shall see?

  • Could Big3 Have Their Own TV Station? 6:29:24 10.36 AM

Big3 is a 3-on-3 basketball league founded by hip-hop musician and actor Ice Cube and entertainment executive Jeff Kwatinetz. The league’s games can be watched on CBS. The teams compete from late June through mid August. You can also watch them on YouTube. It is now as popular as traditional basketball. Big3 is now established and is a popular alternative for basketball fans during the NBA off-season.

Could Big3 have their own TV station? Why not? It's not impossible for a person who owns their own sports league to also own a TV station for broadcasting their league’s games. This would allow the league owner to have full control over the broadcast rights and production of their games, potentially increasing revenue and exposure for the league. Ice Cube seems pretty intelligent enough to do so although TV station can require significant financial investment and resources. It could be a challenge.
