Happy (early) Canada Day!  Episode Eight of The All-Canadian Podcast, powered by the All-Canadian Sports Network, is live ahead of the Long Weekend.  Host Tyler Bennett is joined by Lethbridge Pronghorns swimmer Apollo Hess, who is the reigning U SPORTS Rookie of the Year in the pool.

Off the top, Bennett takes another dive into the All-Canadian Mailbag for another listener question.  This week, the question reads 'are there any books you'd recommend'?  The answer relates to the conversation with Apollo, more so around the topic of his goals for his rookie season, so the question was rather fitting for the episode.

From there, Bennett and Hess dive into a conversation that aims to spotlight the rookie year that Apollo had in the pool, while also showcasing the sport of swimming as a whole.  Hess shares how he first got involved in swimming as a child, and how that helped fuel his competitive drive.

Hess also talks about the training side of the sport, and what his training schedule looks like as he preps for various competitions throughout the year, providing some in-depth understanding of what it takes to be an elite swimmer along the way.  Hess touches on the training cycles they go through as elite athletes, which includes some competitive challenges and two-a-day workouts throughout the week.
