This week, I spoke with Tina Hollenbeck to discuss why parents are qualified and capable of teaching their own children. Parents possess a unique understanding of their child's learning style and interests, allowing them to tailor education for optimal engagement. This deep knowledge of their child can foster a nurturing and supportive learning environment. Tina is a Wisconsin native and the founder of the Homeschool Loft. Tina's family modeled their learning journey through Charlotte Mason, eclectic, and unschooling practices. She has recently graduated our daughters who are currently enrolled in universities. In This Episode In this episode, we discussed why parents should feel comfortable with homeschooling. Parents can design a curriculum that incorporates their child's passions and interests, to make learning more engaging and enjoyable for the child. Another essential point of homeschooling, whether as a single or two-parent household, requires having access to strong support system. A "village" of like-minded parents, mentors, or even extended family can provide invaluable resources. Imagine your child learning about the Civil Rights Movement from their great-grandparents who lived through it, compared to reading from a textbook. By leveraging the expertise and experiences of others, you can expand your child's horizons and enrich their learning experience while also freeing up your own time. A supportive network allows you to focus on your strengths as an individual and creates a village that fosters your child's educational growth. Set clear boundaries with love and respect for your child to understand expectations and a sense of responsibility.
