not impressed with this rewritten/modern version

Attempts at humor include a bored narrator, a VERY snarky Judy and a clueless mom

Excellent story and very well performed

My 4 year old son loves this story! It’s so funny and well done! We put it on every night and now there are no more bedtime tears. He wants to be the Quilt Dragon for Halloween next year. Lol!

One that kids will love more than adults

This is not the Christmas Story, you’ll put your eye out, holiday favorite that the whole family will love. This is little-kid friendly and cute. But, this is light on hidden jokes or double meanings for us grown ups to engage. Sit the wee ones down, hit play, and walk away.

Hard to enjoy it when they keep making fun of it

This should have worked. The creative team gathered a talented cast of Broadway performers and comedians to update a dated, but beloved, holiday radio serial. Sadly, rather than do the hard work of creating an immersive world, they decided to make easy jokes about the original. They sell out the opportunity of a compelling story for punchlines about something that most of its listeners won't be familiar with and which alienates those who loved the original to begin with. It makes you wonder who the audience for this was intended to be.

There's nothing amusing about whether or not the announcer knows the children's names. Like much of the humor, it feels like an inside joke. I stopped listening after Episode 3 when they started making jokes about how there was a perfectly good cliffhanger, but the original script decided to introduce another obstacle. Are we all supposed to collectively roll our eyes and admonish the writing of the 1930s?

The actors do their best with the material. But it's difficult to take even Alan Cumming's stuffed bear seriously when his character says a line and is immediately told by another character that his growl is ridiculous.

Not my beloved classic

Not a fan of this remake; couldn’t get past the first few minutes. Go listen to the original radio version online.
