Flophouse, an original ensemble musical, explores eight people’s struggle to re-enter a society that disposed of them long ago. It’s 2009; Obama’s in the White House, Billionaire Bloomberg’s in his third term and America’s in a devastating recession. Down in New York’s Bowery District residents of a flophouse or single room occupancy, learn that, thanks to gentrification, they have three days to find new housing. This episode features the songs, ‘I’m Runnin’ and ‘Firefly’, both performed by Joanna Burns.
