Episode 31: Abraham Alexander: 'SEA/SONS'

  • Summary

  • On this episode, Lauren is joined by the wonderful singer, songwriter Abraham Alexander. Born in Greece to parents of Nigerian descent, Abraham moved to Texas with his family at age 11 to escape the racial tensions they faced in his birthplace.

His path to music came years later after a friend handed him a guitar and he unexpectedly found songs pouring out. A series of increasingly incredible chance meetings—including a life-changing encounter with Leon Bridges—led Abraham to nurture this newfound musical voraciousness.

Since then, he has shared the stage with many wonderful artists including The Teskey Brothers, Lucius and The Lumineers.

In April 2023, Abraham released his highly anticipated debut album 'SEA/SONS' via Dualtone Records. The album is a culmination of his own stories of loss, anguish and redemption alongside an undeniable sense of hope and healing.

Together, Abraham and Lauren have such an open, honest conversation as he discusses the many personal stories behind the writing of the album.
