  • Summary

  • The clocks, our earliest technological achievement, satisfies our desire to measure epochs of time smaller than the day, the lunar month, and the year. Sundials, the forerunners of modern astronomical instruments, have been around since before such gadgets became commonplace in our homes. They displayed the time by pointing out the location of the shadow cast by a rotating object on a flat surface. Next, we have duration timers, or what we now call hourglasses, which are constructed in accordance with a measurable interval and were used to keep track of the passing of time. Water clocks, which employed the flow of water to determine the time, were also in use in Ancient Egypt. Oscillating time keepers, like balance wheels, were not practical for use in mechanical watches until the verge escapement was invented in 1300 Europe. Many contemporary instruments, such as wall clocks, continue to rely significantly on this method. Learn More:- https://angiehomes.co/collections/clocks
