Ageism and complete misunderstanding

I was so excited to listen to this podcast. I waited and rewatched both episodes because I have them on DVD. Welcome to the '70s. I thought you would adore Nancy fighting against sexism. This is what women had to deal with. Men underestimating them, and men trying to figuring out where protection and equality all balanced out. We know from the beginning of the show that Nancy is right and everyone else is wrong. This is Nancy's show. ALL the men are wrong. As a young gay boy, Nancy was an inspiration in this episode. Completely underestimated and victorious in the end. Your ageism and sexism are unfortunately grossly on display again. Every man in their early fourties is a dirty old man. Seriously, most of the actors you have accused of being gross old men were in their late thirties or early fourties. It is ageism pure and simple. Your infantiilizing of Pamela Sue Martin, a twenty six year old woman you keep trying to turn into an eighteen year old girl, which the series never did ...she was obviously played as a woman in her twenties...is disturbing at best. You should be angry at the way Nancy was treated. We feminists of the time were angry as well. "Why aren't you listening to Nancy?" we all shouted at the television at the time. She was right. Every other scene let the audience know she was right. You have totally missed the point on this one. Everyone underestimates Nancy, but she is right about everything. No Los Angeles cop would have taken a young, amateur, female part time investigator seriously. Nancy did not have a professional detective license, nor has she ever in any of her series, so she does not try to erroneously pass herself off as a professional detective. They don't take Frank and Joe seriously either, and they are also in the amateur detective category in this season. In the end, they are all praised for their detective work, which outshines every professional adult on screen. I urge you to rewatch these episodes with a more discerning point of view and a better grasp of history. Nancy was right up there with Wonder Woman and The Bionic Woman teaching girls AND boys how strong and capable women could be. They changed television and the world.
