He has won an unprecedented four Dally M Medals, the highest individual award in the National Rugby League, and three World Golden Boots. As Managing Director of the JT Academy, he is making a difference in the lives of young Indigenous people through well-being, education and employment programs. In 2019, he was made a Member of the Order of Australia for his significant service to Rugby League and as a role medal. In 2017 he was awarded the Human Rights Medal. Not bad for a kid who was knocked back time and time again. Told he just didn't have the right body-type to pursue a career in Rugby League. This series will feature some of Australia’s most recognised sports men and women, prominent businesspeople and well-known politicians, allowing them to tell their story, in their own words. Bounce Back is about promoting well-being and good mental health, by showing that even in the most difficult of times, there are people who you can turn to for support - whether they’re mates, family, colleagues, professionals even your neighbours. It’s about how to look after yourself when things are tough, believing in yourself and knowing you can come through it even stronger.
