Ben & Rob conclude their Alien saga with Fede Álvarez’ latest franchise entry ‘Alien Romulus’! The film has been out for less than 48 hours and these boys have managed multiple re-watches and STILL recorded, edited and released a full one hour show for release weekend! Set between the events of Alien (1979) and Aliens (1986), Fede’s latest crime against a fanbase stars Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu as a young crew desperate for a chance at changing their miserable lives. The origin story of the villain from ‘X’, Pearl lets us in on her young adult life and sparks a debate on whether violence is inherent by nature or nurtured within her by the nightmare that was 1918 America. We get a vivid insight into how Pearl LOVES spending her free time, whether it’s killing farm animals named after silent movie characters or abusing her severely disabled father, it’s all fun and games…?

So what was the state of cinema during the first world war? Is Pearl the best period drama of all time? Is Ti West some sort of wizard genius able to accurately depict the state of cinema during any time period through his characters? Is Ben’s rap career finally getting the RESPECT it deserves? And most importantly, Is Mia Goth ACTUALLY Pearl IRL?

Ben and Rob leap into the fire of controversy with ‘Alien 3’, the debut feature film of legendary director David Fincher and widely considered a staggeringly disappointing film both critically and commercially. Starring Sigourney Weaver, Charles Dance and Lance Henriksen, ‘Alien 3’ follows Ellen Ripley after her Sulaco escape pod crashes on a planet populated by violent male inmates; and violently undoes huge amounts of story work established by James Cameron in his eighties megahit ‘Aliens’. Widely considered a terrible end to Ripley’s story, this film is nonetheless Rob’s absolute favourite entry in the franchise; MUCH to Ben’s utter horror and disgust.

So what exactly does this botched sequel offer that can’t be found in its superior prequels? How did the most astounding of sci-fi franchises fall so low? Has there ever been quite such an unlikely string of stupid, repeated, wilful, stupid, greedy and above all STUPID mistakes made in the production of a movie?
