The IDF continues to roll through Gaza with great success destroying much of the Hamas terrorists military infrastructure and capacity putting pressure on Hamas to revive the ceasefire negotiations, with some improved prospects re the return of the hostages. Due to manpower strains, the Israel government has approved a plan to temporarily extend compulsory IDF military service for men from 32 months to 36 months. With the wars and economic issues Israel is subsequently having to contend with, Google is displaying absolute confidence in Israel with advanced talks to buy Israel tech company WIZ for US twenty three billion dollars, in what will be the biggest ever Israel tech acquisition, that will also generate a tax windfall during the Gaza war. Maurice Klein speaks with L’Chaim – To Life radio tour guide Effi Yaacobi, who after commenting about Christian support for Israel and the Australian Christian support for Israel, takes us to the Ein Afek Nature Reserve in the Acre Valley within the Zvulun Valley. It covers the swamps and springs at the source of the Na'aman River, as well as the Tel Afek archaeological site. The origin of the name is the biblical city of Afek. The highlights of the park include the Crusader fortress and the natural water canals and lake, which draw their waters from the year-long flowing springs of Afek, which are the source of the Na'aman River. The Ein Afek Nature Reserve preserves swampland and waterway sources the majority of which have been lost in Israel. Along the swamp pathway in the Reserve, visitors 'float’ over swamp surrounded by rich riverbank vegetation and colourful waterbirds and flora and fauna. Visitors can walk across the picturesque bodies of water on floating wooden walkways and follow the Swamp Pathway. This is a unique experience when you are virtually walking on water. Other attractions in the park include the ancient two-story flour mill. The foundations of the mill were built by the ancient Romans and the rest of the structure dates back to the Crusaders. Maurice Klein speaks with L’Chaim – To Life radio tour guide Effi Yaacobi, who took us to the Upper Jordan Valley Jordan River Park Nature Reserve. "Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the swelling of Jordan…" (Jer 49:19). The Jordan River Park is by the eastern channel of the Jordan River and strictly speaking is in the Golan, however, it is only minutes from the north-east shore of Lake Kinneret. In sharp contrast to its legendary dimensions, the Jordan River is neither wide, nor deep, nor long, and according to the definition of many geographers it is a stream rather than a river. Nevertheless, for millions of people, it is a most important river. The Jordan and its banks are variegated, and one section is quite unlike the next. Between the Bnot Ya’akov Bridge and the Sea of Galilee, a distance of only 11 km, it becomes a gushing mountain stream, descending from an altitude of 70 m above sea level to 210 m below sea level, a major drop by any standard.
