  • Moral panics have shaped not only extremist movements throughout history, but they've shaped the very laws and rules, both spoken and unspoken upon which our nation (the USA) was founded and which continue to be a prevalent part of daily life today.

    Extremist movements, like the now global QAnon conspiracy theory, which was born if not in the United States (there is some debate about who the initial 'main' anon on the website 4Chan who first began making viral posts as "Q" was, and at least one candidate for the initial 'main' 4Chan anon posting as "Q" is known to live outside the United States), certainly 'of' the United States, both in subject matter and in rhetoric, and was most certainly influenced, if not wholly constructed from the satanic panic.

    So let's take a look at how that one particular panic, the satanic panic of the 1980s came about, and let's examine how it has likely given birth to and certainly accelerated extremist movements which have happened since, like QAnon.
