We are back! Yes once again we took a bit of break over the summer but we're back with our twentieth episode. This week The Courtyard Players take a look at evil nuns,  creepy dolls and haunted houses as we delve into The Conjuring Universe.

in Part II Curie Kim and newcomer Natalie Webb join Chris Daley in attempting to answer such important questions as 'What is the point in the crooked man?' 'Do you have to have a nun in every horror film?' and 'Why do Americans think everyone in the UK uses the insult w**ker?'

  • EP19: Wes Anderson Part III
    Jul 24 2021

WE'RE BACK! After a much needed rest, we're back for our second year and ready to kickstart with another Director's episode.

For our nineteenth outing, The Courtyard Players have yet another mammoth for you. This week for the first of what we will be a three part episode we focus on a modern version of the 'auteur', a director who has made people laugh, think and even baffled them completely. With nine films so far and a tenth about to return to cinemas, we thought about time we focus an episode on the brilliant but often perplexing Wes Anderson

Chris is once again joined by Mike Armagon and Adam Smith and we welcome a newcomer to the podcast , Jarrod Handley as we delve into all aspects of Anderson's films and try to work out what these films are actually about, if anything

In Part III we continue our climb up our traditional worst to best list and attempt to answer such important questions as “Why would anybody ever take a date to see a Wes Anderson film?", "Why does Wes Anderson hate pets?" and "Why is a child being struck by lightning one of the funniest things you're likely to see?"

  • EP18 - YEAR IN REVIEW: Part 2
    May 16 2021

Our eighteenth outing is a pretty special one. It's our one year anniversary. Yes that one year has come round already so we're being very self indulgent and looking back over our first year online with a very special episode.

This week Chris is joined by a whole host of contributors including Adam Smith, Curie Kim, Dan Kearns and Mike Armagon as we reflect over the films we've watched over the past year. We take all the films that came number one on our lists and then, believe it or not, rank THEM in order of preference to get our definitive best of the best list.
But this wouldn't be Flick N Mix without the best and worst of cinema. So we have also taken all the films that came bottom of our lists and ranked them to try understand why the worst of cinema remains down at the bottom.

Part 1 last week covered the worst of the worst. This week features the best of the best.

We've been overwhelmed by the response of our first year online and are incredibly grateful to all our listeners out there. We cant wait for what's in store next year.
