From Conflict to Connection: Understanding Your Relationship Conflict Style - Part One

  • Summary

  • Did you know that the way you fight or how you resolve conflict can predict whether or not you'll have a successful marriage? That's right. According to Dr. John Gottman of the Gottman Institute,  the single greatest predictor for a successful marriage is repairing skills. Repairing skills refers to a couple's ability to resolve conflict.

Episodes 18 and 19 of A Purpose Driven Marriage Podcast is a two-part series where Duane and Nadine break down the five different conflict styles that we tend to default to.

They'll cover the pros, the cons, and the usual characteristics of the conflict styles: Accommodator, Avoider, Competer, Collaborator, and Compromiser.

You'll learn about how you can use each one in the right ways that serve the needs of the relationship, ultimately leading to greater intimacy and connection.

Curious about what your conflict style might be? Listen to the podcast and then take the quiz to learn what your relationship conflict style is.

Be sure and have your partner take the quiz as well!
