• "This Is Going To Save A Lot of Lives": 9-8-8 Mental Health Hotline Launches
    Aug 4 2022
The United States has a worsening mental crisis, exacerbated by the pandemic, with reports showing the overall suicide rate increased 30 percent between 2000 and 2020. While the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act passed in 2020 with bipartisan support, the implementation of a new three-digit crisis hotline went live just last month. Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA) is one of the cosponsors of the bill, which has created the 9-8-8 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline; one universal number for people to dial to get help during a mental health crisis. He joins the Rundown to discuss the launch of the hotline, his own struggles with PTSD as a combat veteran, and why this is an important step in destigmatizing mental health within America.   On Tuesday, the country saw primary elections in Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri and Washington. Some key takeaways from the results include Kansas voters choosing to keep the right to abortion in their state constitution, a pro-impeachment Republican in Michigan was defeated by his Trump-endorsed challenger, and many primary results have reinvigorated questions about candidate viability in a general election. FOX News Decision Desk Director Arnon Mishkin joins the podcast to explain how Kansas’ vote foreshadows the impact that Roe v. Wade could have in November, how President Biden’s low approval ratings are affecting members of his party, and Democrats’ risky primary strategy of meddling in GOP primaries.   Plus, commentary from FOX News Contributor Joe Concha. • "Weakness on the World Stage": Rep. Arrington On President Biden's Trip to the Mideast
    Jul 18 2022
As Americans continue to grapple with high gas prices, President Biden has taken his first presidential trip to the Middle East in hopes of working with Saudi Arabia to increase oil production. The President's four-day trip to Saudi Arabia and Israel was also dedicated to seeking stronger relationships in the region -- including a controversial meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Texas Republican Congressman Jodey Arrington joins the Rundown to explain why he believes the President's trip could 'project weakness on the world stage.' He also discusses hard-hitting issues affecting Americans at home, such as the crisis at the Southern border and record-breaking inflation. The restaurant industry has not been immune to the impact of rising prices. With inflation above nine percent, the service industry has seen restaurant goers eating out less and menu prices fluctuating. Chef David Burke is a culinary expert who owns eighteen restaurants, and he joins the Rundown to explain how he has seen the behavior of diners change with inflation rising, the factors that go into restaurants deciding to charge more for their menu items and the reasoning behind his decision to expand aggressively during the pandemic.
