Episode 9! TIME TRAVEL?

All 4 Funk employees are back at it again! This is the last episode before Alex leaves us for Europe for a few weeks. Lucky punk!

- Hobby Highlights - Mike’s hobby struggle continues at the table as he tackles the construction of a robotic dinosaur. Micheal gets excited about drafting Star Wars Unlimited and hanging with a great community! Casner provides Court with some more commission work and it’s UNDEAD!

- On A Nat 20 - Bad haircuts, snakes, and mustache racing stripes!

- What’s In The Case - Dr. Chris Pine is in the house…er…case! Mike’s insane or genius ideas are at work again. This time, it’s an Izzet Doctor who has unrequited love and fire. Court questions the Dungeons & Dragons actor’s credentials. A tangent ensues when Court declares his love for another awesome podcast, Lorehammer. He even calls out Mark from Lorehammer to appear as a guest.

- MAIN TOPIC: THOSE WHO CAME BEFORE US - We are so thankful to be where we are today with Funkatronic Rex but none of this would have happened without the influential people in our lives. These people encouraged us, supported us, and were instrumental in getting us into the hobbies we love and represent today. There’s truly not enough thank you’s in the world to express with these fine folks.

Also, Court can’t help but get emotional…of course.

Episode 8! The boyz are back!

All 4 Funkatronic Rex employees convene before Alex leaves for Europe. Games are played, questions are asked, debates are had.

- Hobby Highlights: As employees of a game store, the irony is you don’t actually get to play many of the games you love. However this week seemed different! Micheal gets excited about the teaser of his Seraphon army for Age of Sigmar 4th edition. Court gets psyched about finally being able to play some 40K with a buddy, Ailan and chats about the Crusade campaign they are both in. He also brags about his progress with his Lord of the Rings LCG play group. Alex regales us with a tale of his most recent Battletech game with the man himself, Miles!

Mike gets back into bowling…yep…bowling and it’s RAD!

- MAIN TOPIC: MAGIC MINI GAMES - Another set of fun games hosted by Court but this time we are focused on Magic the Gathering. Here the guys play 3 different games. Magic Card or Metal Song? Magic the Gathering Trivia! Character Color Combo!

Inevitably fun tangents ensue and a discussion of Tom Cruise’s first movie takes place.

- Q&A: The dudes answer a few fun questions from our wonderful listeners. What are your favorite TV shows? Do you guys hate sports because you’re nerds?

Episode 7! Getting to know the Dungeon Master, Hiroko!

We are joined by our wonderful and hard working store DM, Hiroko. She leads our Dungeons & Dragons Adventurer’s League group on Tuesday nights and has set a great example for those new and experienced to the hobby. We get schooled on D&D vampiric lore, chat about Mike’s baseball player character, and the importance of a good Dungeon Master.

- News: Lord of the Rings the Living Card Game! Once again we had a wonderful all day event dedicated to Court’s favorite card game.

Our custom Warhammer 40K slow-grow narrative campaign, Whispers from the Deep kicked off with high energy! Thank you to all who joined us and apologies to those who didn’t get to sign up. We will keep you posted on the unfolding narrative.

- Hobby Highlights: Micheal is in vacation mode, Mike’s kitbashing gets gross (link for pics below), Hiroko makes an amazing D&D prop but you might not want to check her browser history. Court finally jumps into Battletech!

- On A Nat 20: Mike attempted to hit Court with cleaning the fish tank for a year. Court discusses new lore for the Nat 20 game but Micheal ain’t having it. Hiroko locks Court into joining The Curse of Strahd campaign…in a unique way. Lastly, Court becomes Mike’s doppelganger and everyone else has to dress like Court!

- MAIN TOPIC: CHATTING D&D WITH HIROKO

The irony is real. Four dudes running a friendly local game store but none of them play Dungeons & Dragons. Shame. Well thankfully Hiroko intrigues and educates us with not only some D&D lore but her unique story into gaming. TPKs are real but the love and passion shared by our good friend and DM squared was absolutely tangible. This was a very special episode for us and we are so grateful to Hiroko for her hard work, kindness, creativity, and support.

- On a Nat 20: What was once a time-killer has now grown into a favorite in-store pastime. The crew chats about the fun and embarrassing “On a nat 20…” scenarios they are locked into.

- Store Lore: - Quinn. The man, the myth, the legend. We pay tribute to an awesome ex-employee and pioneer of the Funk. Though it seems we reminisce fondly and with sadness, he’s still very much alive. We just miss him.

- MAIN TOPIC: GUESS WHO: WARHAMMER EDITION - Court comes up with a fun game for the dudes to try. Each employee provides multiple movie lines to describe/represent a Warhammer army. The other guys need to guess correctly which faction/army it matches. Stakes are declared, the game gets interesting, and Michael schools us in some lore.
