Gibraltar Today - At The Beach: La Caleta

  • Summary

  • Today’s episode is the second of our series “Gibraltar Today – At The Beach”, recorded live from La Caleta.

Kayron Stagno has lived in Catalan Bay all his life. He told us what it’s like to live in the fishing village as a young person, and how their traditions have been passed on to the next generation.

Yesterday the Government announced changes to the Frontier. As from November there will be a new Entry/Exit system in place, which will likely cause delays. If the changes do go ahead Gibraltar will reciprocate. Johnny Walker is a proud British Caleteño – we spoke to him about the news.

Francis Martin grew up in Caleta, and told us about what the Bay was like during his childhood. He also discussed his concerns over the eastside reclamation and its impact on the area.

And, Charlie Walker helps to supervise lifeguards at Catalan Bay. He told us about their role in keeping beachgoers safe – especially fitting given that tomorrow is Drowning Prevention Day.
