They discuss the successes and many failures of the system allowing listeners to understand the side of justice that’s often not portrayed. Gin & Justice highlights stories that are often forgotten in the "True Crime" category, and that is, views and perspectives from the real criminal justice system. You’ll hear discussions on the impacts the criminal justice system on those who are incarcerated, their loved ones, and those who are wrongfully convicted, and highlights of how substance use disorder and mental health are criminalized and have fueled a system of mass incarceration.Follow and subscribe for weekly behind the scenes look at the American Criminal Legal System.

  • Farewell For Now: Not Forever
    Dec 19 2023

On this episode of Gin & Justice, with heavy hearts we announce that we will be taking a step back from the podcast. For awhile we will not be releasing any new episodes but we will be keeping all prior episodes live.
Life has thrown us some wild curveballs this last year and we've both been feeling overwhelmed and that we didn't have the time and energy each of our episodes deserves. We never want to sell these stories short, or as Amanda says "we don't want to ever half ass this, we want to always whole ass it."
We are still reachable through our emails and socials. Please continue to reach out, and
please don't stop sharing these stories and spreading the information needed to create the change we all need.
    Farewell for now, not forever.
    xoxo- G&J

  • Meghan Cousino & Jessica Weinstock Paredes: The National Exoneration Registry
    Dec 12 2023

On this week's episode of Gin & Justice the gals chat about some current events including spiking burrito bowls and sketchy NARK kits.

Then they chat with Meghan and Jessica from the National Registry of Exonerations!

The National Registry of Exonerations is a project of the Newkirk Center for Science & Society at University of California Irvine, the University of Michigan Law School and Michigan State University College of Law. It was founded in 2012 in conjunction with the Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern University School of Law. The Registry provides detailed information about every known exoneration in the United States since 1989—cases in which a person was wrongly convicted of a crime and later cleared of all the charges based on new evidence of innocence. The Registry also maintains a more limited database of known exonerations prior to 1989."
