    Barbara has made such an impact in the Midland Texas education system that in 2014, the Midland Independent School District named a new elementary school after her. And at 88 she is still working hard to make the lives of students better by connecting with families. In an article for Texas Monthly, Barbara said “When you get to know the parents and the grandparents, and you build that connection with them, it’s a bridge over troubled water,” Yarbrough has said.
