• Just Do It | The Importance of Personal Discipleship
    Jul 25 2024

Ever been hunting for something in one of those big-box stores . . . and you feel like you’ve been walking forever? You ask an employee, “Excuse me, where are the paper towels?” And you hope they don’t just point... to the other side of the store. The words you want to hear are, “C’mon, I’ll take you there.” Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie explains that new believers need that kind of assistance. We need to show them the way. It’s personal, helpful. It’s called discipleship, and that’s our topic today.

  • The Disciplines of a Disciple | Applying and Sharing God's Truths
    Jul 23 2024

Christian disciples are in the import/export business. No, it’s not Persian rugs or spices from India. It’s truth from Heaven. God’s Word gives us everything we need to know to grow as committed followers of the Lord. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie points out that it’s up to us to import those truths into our lives, and then look for opportunities to export those principles into the lives of those in our circle of influence. These are “disciplines of discipleship.”

  • What Is a Disciple? | Embracing Discipleship
    Jul 22 2024

One of the classic, old CCM songs of days gone by was called Two Hands, by Love Song. The song said “with one hand reach out to Jesus, with the other, bring a friend.” That’s a pretty good description of discipleship in a nutshell. And today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us follow the Lord wholeheartedly, and show others how to do the same. We’ll learn how to embrace the very purpose we’re here: to have fellowship with God, and to bring others into that fellowship.

  • So What? | Sunday Message
    Jul 21 2024

How should we live in light of what we know about the end times? Pastor Greg Laurie shares the answer as we wrap up our series we’re calling "The Future Is Written."

    Notes:

    Focus verse: Luke 12

An understanding of End Times teaching will cause us to live Godly lives.

What you believe about End Times will affect the way you live in these times.

If our belief in the imminent return of Christ does not affect our lifestyles, we have completely missed the point.

D.L. Moody was once asked, “If you knew the Lord would return tonight, how would you spend the rest of the day?” Moody replied without hesitation, “I wouldn’t do anything different than I do every day.”

What should I be doing in light of the fact that Jesus could come at any moment?

    Read: Luke 12:35–38

We should be shining lights in a dark place.
    Luke 12:35

To gird your waist simply meant, “to tighten your belt.”

To have their lamps burning meant, they would have sufficient oil in them.

As the culture gets darker, we need to shine brighter.

We are to be watching for Him.
    Luke 12:37

We are to be ready to go.

We should not only be ready but be anxiously awaiting His return.
    Luke 12:36

We are not only anxiously waiting but we are also working.
    Luke 12:43

We will never share the gospel if we don’t care about lost people.
People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.

The gospel, by its design, is meant to be shared with others.

    We can evangelize or fossilize.

    Luke 12:45–46

The easiest place to get a hardened heart is in the church.

The easiest place to get a hardened heart is where you hear the Word of God being taught.
The same sun that softens the wax, hardens the clay.

    Luke 12:47

    Jesus is coming!

  • Are You His Disciple? | Standing Up for What's Right
    Jul 18 2024

What’s right isn’t always popular, and what’s popular isn’t always right. It’s easy to go with the flow . . . laugh along with others at an inappropriate joke, remain silent when a co-worker is about to do something unethical. But those who never stand for something eventually will fall for anything. Today on A NEW BEGINNING, Pastor Greg Laurie helps us put our faith, our relationship with God, front and center in our daily lives. It’s part of walking the rewarding path of discipleship.
