  • 70.4 The Early Life of Jesus
    Mar 26 2023
We have little information about the childhood of Jesus after he and his parents escaped to Egypt. Here are some details about that time and those places that may help. While we use the incident in the temple at age twelve, and the wedding in Cana for insight into these years, we will not make use of extra-biblical writings. While popular and interesting, we are skeptical of Ann Rice’s novels since they draw upon sources outside of the Bible.

  • 70.3 Mount Olivet Camp video
    Mar 26 2023
This was the place where some of my Growing Up With Brother Don adventures occurred. Yet it also was an important source of my spiritual foundations. My mother attended the first camp more than one hundred years ago, as a babe in arms. She and my father led the camp and church for a decade. You will see my best friend, Steve, in some of the photographs, as well as my dear cousin Joe. I could add dozens of other memories, but I will let the movie convey the atmosphere of the camp for you. As I look at this film, the love and concern for people come through clearly. The photographs were primarily those that belonged to my mother, but for the one hundred year celebration, many people loaned pictures. The camp still thrives under the leadership of my cousin, Danny Harris. I have a Facebook page titled the Mount Olivet Camp History. There is a closed-caption version of the movie on that page. You will also find a link to the current camp Facebook page, where you can find the dates of the next camp. It is located near Hinton, West Virginia.

  • 70.2 New Jerusalem House of Prayer video

I think I will always consider this group my home church. It is an unusual church, and this video reveals how unusual they can be. They left their mother denomination because of theological differences, but it meant they had to give up their building. I filmed this podcast, and the narrator was--and is--the pastor of the congregation. At the end of the podcast I list some of the distinctive aspects of the church. I miss this wonderful little church, but with it being more than a thousand miles from where I live, I really cannot attend regularly.

She was raised in a Christian home, the home of an evangelist, pastor, and camp leader. Yet when she was in her 80s she discovered for the first time that Jesus really loved her. How could this be, when she had been told of his love all of her life? This is the story of my mother's last months of life. We will take a break from new podcasts for a number of reasons, including giving you time to catch up on the latest podcasts.
