    Our Guest for World Famous in Newfoundland is Pamela Morgan. For 19 years, Pamela Morgan was lead singer, guitarist, and arranger for Canada’s pioneering “Celtic” band, Newfoundland’s Figgy Duff, who brought the traditional music of Newfoundland and Labrador to the world stage. Since then, Pamela has been spearheading her own independent record label, Amber Music, producing music for NL's finest roots artists, including four of her own solo CDs, and licensing tracks to various labels worldwide. Pamela’s received many awards and honours including and honorary doctorate from Memorial University of Newfoundland. Pamela is also working on two new projects;  Wetland, and The White Fleet Suite, She continues to write, arrange, and perform in her own highly original and hauntingly beautiful style.

    In Episode 2 - Darryl quizzes Kevin on the rich aviation history of Newfoundland and Labrador. In this spisode's installment of WORLD FAMOUS IN NEWFOUNDLAND Kevin turns the tables on Darryl when he goes up against whiz kid - Sandy Morris.

    Sandy Morris known to his musical friends as “the easternmost guitar player in North America” is an accomplished and multi-talented musician, producer, and engineer based in St. John’s, Newfoundland. Picking up his first guitar at the age of 15, Morris has made his living as a versatile and ingenious performer since 1965. An original member of the legendary Wonderful Grand Band, his more recent collaborations include Rasa (with Erin Best), and the Eight Track Favourites.

    Sandy Morris has contributed his own compositions, his performances, and his musical expertise to film and television projects for more than 30 years. His credits include serving as musical director or producer for Land and Sea, Violet, Tommy, East Coast Music Awards, and Codco, among many other projects. In addition to his own projects and featured appearances, he continues to perform with numerous other musicians on their recordings and live performances.

    We are joined by special guest, Governor and COO of the Newfoundland Growlers - Glenn Stanford.  

    Glenn Stanford is a Canadian ice hockey executive. He is currently the Governor and Chief Operating Officer of the Newfoundland Growlers in the ECHL. Previously he served in that same capacity for the former St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League. Stanford is a two-time winner of the James C. Hendy Memorial Award, which is awarded to the AHL Executive of the Year.

  • Season One: Episode 8 | OLYMPIANS | Guest: Kaetlyn Osmond

    In this  episode Darryl schools Kevin on Olympians.
    We are joined by special guest, World Champion Figure Skater Kaetlyn Osmond

    In 2018, Kaetlyn Osmond became Canada’s first women’s singles world figure skating champion in 45 years. That was just a month after she won two medals at PyeongChang 2018, capturing bronze in women’s singles and helping Canada win gold in the team event. Kaetlyn also won helped Canada to a silver medal in the team event  in Sochi 2014  

    Osmond helped make Canadian history at the 2017 World Championships where she won the silver medal to share the podium with bronze medallist teammate Gabrielle Daleman. It was the first time two Canadian women had stood together on the world championship podium.

    Earlier in the season, after winning silver at both her Grand Prix events, Osmond had become the first Canadian woman to qualify for the ISU Grand Prix Final since Joannie Rochette in 2009. 

    Osmond had burst onto the national scene at the 2012 Canadian Championships where she won the short program en route to a bronze medal, just a year after placing sixth in the junior ranks. In her world championship debut in 2013, she placed a surprising fourth in the short program before ending up eighth overall.

    She claimed her third national title in 2017. Osmond returned to the top of a Grand Prix podium at Skate Canada International in October 2017. She went on to win bronze at the Grand Prix Final in December, the first Canadian woman to win a medal at that event since Rochette in the 2004-05 season.   

    Kaetlyn retired from competitive skating in 2019 and has toured with Stars on Ice. She is also busy coaching and studying Broadcast Journalism.
