Split systems are often used in homes with limited space. They are often made up of two units: one that heats or cools the home and another that keeps the house at a comfortable temperature. The advantage of this configuration is that each room can be separately heated or cooled, which means that if you don't want heat in a certain area, just turn off the heater.

Hybrid split system

Electric resistance heat (ERH) and forced air heat pumps are used in tandem in a hybrid heating and cooling system. ERH uses electricity to create heat from water flowing via pipes inside the home. This method works well in homes built before 1980, since they often lack ductwork. Although less efficient than forced air heat pumps, it does not need moving components.
