Handsome Molly is an epic adventure-romance story set on the West Coast in the near future. The world – ravaged by climate change and disease – is running on empty. Government and infrastructure are collapsing, and crime syndicates run the cities. Still traumatized by her father’s recent death, 14-year-old Molly Masamoto leaves the relative safety of her isolated Gulf Island. She embarks on a perilous journey into this dystopian landscape to bring medical help to her community. Armed with only her precious fiddle, “Jewels,” she must learn how to survive in the harsh outside world, who to trust, and ultimately – how to forgive herself.

When 14-year-old Molly Masamoto’s mum needs medical help, Molly leaves the safety of her isolated Gulf Island off Canada’s west coast in search of her long-lost grandfather – a doctor. It’s the start of a perilous journey through a climate-ravaged world – and what’s worse, she has to do it in heels. 

After making her first big mistake – Molly learns to be more cautious. On the trip down to Oregon, she meets an intriguing stranger – but can she trust them? And what kind of welcome will she find at her grandfather’s house?

As Molly and Grandpa Jack slowly get to know each other, she meets his young neighbours: two cute kids called Brandy and Michael. They live with their Uncle Doug – who doesn’t seem to know much about children. The stranger from the train shows up – this time bearing gifts. 

Molly and Spill take a ride in the countryside together, in search of an internet connection. They find connection of another kind. But when the town thug shows up and Spill takes off with him, Molly wonders what’s really going on. 

Grandpa Jack finds a valuable stash in the basement that could be Molly’s ticket home! But when she tries to sell it in the market – things go south quickly. Good old ‘Uncle Doug’ puts everyone in danger, and Molly discovers Spill’s connection to a crime syndicate called The Organisation. Does this change how she feels?

The Organisation has eyes everywhere. Back on the road, Molly must confront her fear of heights while on the run from a vicious crime boss. Spill is wanted for murder – and Jack is lying to the kids about what happened to their uncle. Can they make it to the border? 

It’s reckoning time. Molly learns the truth about just how deep Spill’s connection to The Organisation goes. Brandy and Michael finally find out what really happened to Doug. The group makes a break for a ferry to take them up to Canada – with The Organisation hot on their heels.
