In Heir of Fire, Celaena has fled the kingdom of Adarlan and is now in Wendlyn, seeking both physical and emotional healing. She discovers that she possesses magical abilities, which she must learn to control, and meets a powerful and enigmatic Fae warrior name Rowan Whitethorn, who becomes her trainer and mentor. Back in Adarlan, Chaol and Dorian are grappling with their own dilemmas. Chaol is (as always) torn between his loyalty to Celaena and his duty to the kingdom, while Dorian is struggling to control his newfound magical powers. Meanwhile, in the witch-controlled land of Morath, a deadly competition is brewing among the witch covens, and a fierce and cunning witch named Manon Blackbeak rises to prominence. Celaena’s training in Wendlyn, Chaol’s attempts to uncover secrets, Dorian’s exploration of his powers, and Manon’s ruthless rise to power converge toward a dramatic and action-packed climax, while leaving several key questions unanswered...setting the stage for the next chapter of Celaena’s journey.
