I am your host, Umoja, a voice emerging from decades of reflection and a profound connection to the African diaspora. This podcast is my platform to challenge the status quo and ignite a conversation that’s long overdue. Today, I'm laying out the foundation of our journey together. You'll learn about my own awakening to the harsh realities faced by African Americans in the United States—a country that has systematically failed to protect, respect, or uplift its Black population. Inspired by our forebears' unfulfilled aspirations and stifled dreams, I argue that it is time for us to turn our gaze back to Africa, to places like Liberia, where possibilities for repatriation and rejuvenation await.
