  • Episode 4.1 - Christmas Special 2023
    Dec 22 2023

IEE is back for series 4!

We begin with a Christmas special to wrap up a very IEE-light year. Emma Crossland, Helen Swallow and Becky Heaviside compete to give this year's regal speech over dinner and ruin everyone's day.

WARNING: Continues to contain The Swears

HELEN SWALLOW is a primary school teacher who dabbles in the medium of stand up comedy from time to time. She once ran a comedy night in the before times and will destroy everything you thought you knew about nursery rhymes. Her favourite things are hobnobs, box sets and laughing so hard that occasionally a little wee comes out. She doesn't have an internet presence but she is dead funny like.

EMMA CROSSLAND is a stand up comedian and sit down everything else. Enthusiasm enthusiast, arachnophobe and employee of the month June 2019. Find her on Twitter @CaptainTwitchy, probably in other places too.

BECKY HEAVISIDE is an absolute champ and long-term IEE veteran. She's a Leeds-based comedian, promoter and all-around good egg and can be found on Instagram @BeckyHeaviside. She runs comedy nights and such in Leeds, they're pretty good.

  • Episode 3.8 - A Man
    Dec 14 2022

November 19th is International Men's Day!

And if this podcast had come out on time it would have been perfectly timed to mark this occasion with IEE's first and last ever ALL-MALE lineup.

IEE is in need of a man. A manly man! A manly man's man! Sadly, all we could find were Silky, Chris Booker and Saul Henry instead. But who got too giddy and needed editing out? Who adopted the role of a character we were all uncomfortable to share a room with? And who has no respect whatsoever for the idea of editing?

    All of them.

SILKY is a comedian, singer, songwriter, spy and a fantastic teacher of comedy and guitar too. Find him at https://silkythecomedian.com/ or @paulsilkywhite on Twitter.

CHRIS BOOKER continues to be the worst. He has a website at https://www.chrisbooker.co.uk/ which you can use to send him irritating contact emails. In fact, if you do and send me a screengrab, I'll set you up with some merch.

SAUL HENRY first rose to prominence as a child, when his entry in a balloon race traversed the North Sea from Sunderland to the Netherlands. For this remarkable achievement he was rewarded with a weekend in Doncaster. Once described as looking like an atomic banana, he is usually seen dressed like an absolute bloody idiot on stage. He has a website at home-taping,com

  • Episode 3.7 - Science Correspondent
    Oct 3 2022

IEE is completely science-ignorant, and only one of the three finest minds of our generation will be able to fix that. Emma Crossland, Alex Beighton and John Morris between them have more degrees, test tubes and weird powders in jars than you can shake a stick at.

But whose father is heavily involved in the sea? Who manages to swing a very dubious definition of sandwich? And who was accidentally given a really rough deal in their play title, leading to this episode having a gentle, but real, content warning? (Sorry)

EMMA CROSSLAND is a stand up comedian and sit down everything else. Enthusiasm enthusiast, arachnophobe and employee of the month June 2019. Find her on Twitter @CaptainTwitchy, probably in other places too.

ALEX BEIGHTON was birthed out of the Soho Theatre Stand Up Comedy Labs kicking, screaming and covered in amniotic fluid. Published in Coroney Baloney, t'ART Online and a writer on CNT Productions' 'The Sex Scene', Alex is also regularly gay and gross in front of willing audiences across the UK.

  • Episode 3.6 - IT Helpdesk Agent
    Sep 5 2022

Oh no! Jingletron has broken down! Is there a comedian out there who's capable of taking on the toughest job interview on the internet to provide IT helpdesk support? Surely one of Annabelle Devey, Becky Heaviside or Adam Tumber has what it takes!

But whose only reference to their assigned homework is a spoof in the Simpsons? Who does a surprisingly good 1930s gangster reference? And who wrote a lot of questions for round three that just made everyone sad? Sam, it was Sam.

    WARNING: Contains The Swears

ANNABELLE DEVEY "is certainly a very promising act, and definitely one to watch in the next few years. She’s at times rude, at times very down to earth, but her set is one that will keep you laughing the whole way through" - Mancunian

BECKY HEAVISIDE is an absolute champ and long-term IEE veteran. She's a Leeds-based comedian, promoter and all-around good egg and can be found on Instagram @BeckyHeaviside. She runs comedy nights and such in Leeds, they're pretty good.

ADAM TUMBER is a comedian, MC, quiz show veteran and the man behind Gabriel Jones, corporate Angel. He's on Twitter @AdamTComedy.

  • Episode 3.5 - Soap Opera Writer
    Aug 1 2022

It's time to turn our attention to the long-form drama, and three of the best writers in the biz are queueing up for jobs in IEE's writers room in the form of Emma Crossland, Laura Ollerton and Gabby Hutchinson Crouch!

But who isn't a soap opera person at all? Who has seen a lot more Stephen Sondheim musicals than Sam? And who will make for the fanciest grandma?

    WARNING: Contains The Swears

GABBY HUTCHINSON CROUCH is a regular writer on Radio 4′s THE NEWS QUIZ and THE NOW SHOW. Her first novel, DARKWOOD, was published in 2019 by Farrago Books, with the second in the series, SUCH BIG TEETH, following the year after, and the third in the series, GLASS COFFIN, published in 2021. Her latest book is WISH YOU WEREN'T HERE, which I, Sam, really recommend if you've ever lived by the British seaside. Find her on Twitter @Scriblit

EMMA CROSSLAND is a stand up comedian and sit down everything else. Enthusiasm enthusiast, arachnophobe and employee of the month June 2019. Find her on Twitter @CaptainTwitchy, probably in other places too.

LAURA OLLERTON is a Bath-based comedian (but prefers showers), wordsmith lover and clown-horn impersonator. I don't think she has any Facebook pages or Twitter presence or that stuff but I'm prepared to be corrected.

  • Episode 3.4 - Children's TV Presenter
    Jul 4 2022

IEE's youth programming has long been neglected, which is why Becky Heaviside, Kerry Robinson and Jack Vincent have been invited to interview for the role of children's TV presenter. With an average of 2/3rds of a child between them, surely one of these three is suited to fostering the next generation's keen young minds?

But who is absolutely correct about the worst Playbus stop? Who is determined to rudeify their child-friendly play title? And what will Jingletron's interruption be this month?

    WARNING: Contains The Swears

BECKY HEAVISIDE is an absolute champ and long-term IEE veteran. She's a Leeds-based comedian, promoter and all-around good egg and can be found on Instagram @BeckyHeaviside. She runs comedy nights and such in Leeds, they're pretty good.

KERRY ROBINSON is the poor man's Jo Brand. Find her on all the socials under the handle @Kegster12002.

JACK VINCENT has a bio but I can't remember what it is. He runs a great series of comedy clubs though - search Jack O'Clubs Comedy or find @iamjackv on all the socials.
